267 - Mancunian Moptops

Charles and Alex dive into "Pac-Man Fever" hitmakers Buckner & Garcia, listening to deep cuts about Waffle House, Angry Birds, and Saddam Hussein. Plus, Brian Epstein's ghost should have visited John Lennon in 1969 and told him to put the damn suits and moptops back on.

266 - Knock Knock Knocking on Dylan's Door

Machine Gun Kelly thinks he might be part alien. Jeff Bezos needs to send him and Tom DeLonge to space, unlike Katy Perry they have important research to do up there. Plus, Jeff Tweedy (I call him Greedy Tweedy) is throwing too many damn pitches for the NL Central.

Lollicops Live Performance

I was thinking recently that it's a strange facet of Making Music on the Computer that often a song will just never be performed. With the goal of seeing how good of a performance video I can film on a $0 budget, me and some friends learned a handful of Alex's songs and mine and filmed them at a friend's practice space. Here's the first one, not sure what kind of schedule we will release these on but we've recorded 4 other songs and will hopefully make a regular thing of it. I think this version of Lollicops is a pretty fun contrast to Alex's even though we didn't take a lot of liberties with it.

Drake, Eve Barlow, and Pat Boone pay tribute to Ozzy. And maybe we need to consider the possibility that Billy Joel was completely sober when he crashed his car through someone's living room.

Charles' Music Video with Home Planet

Home Planet (frequent Pod About List collaborators and occasional E1 guests) cooked up this music video which is, basically, about how fast little animated critters grow up. I think we can all relate. This song is from an EP I'm going to put out in October, and, unfortunately, I must implore you to Like And Subscribe to my YouTube, Instagram, Spotify, whatever.

Oasis is serving burnt scran for 20 quid at the gig. The Velvet Sundown will never work because they could never be as late for their own show as Lauryn Hill. The handkerchief code applies to Weezer albums and your favorite color album denotes what you're into sexually.

Life (Song Download)

I (Charles) have a song out today called "Life" on YouTube, Spotify, etc. Lisa Vitale who was on the Brewer Grouse episode of E1 (as well as an episode of Fortune Kit) added vocals. In other news, there's no new episode this week but it's not me and Alex's fault. This is the culprit:

She's recovering from surgery and won't let me forget it.

LIFE

life, end to end we're millipedes

now see the infant teething

now see the sun recede

life, when's your meeting start?

life, what unstable harmony

like birds and nests and thieves

the risk comes naturally

life, plant your marigolds

like air and earth and sky receive

some sacred gift from you

in the shadow of the womb

in the sun you're lying next to me

every day, the refrain of joy without a name

slow days must have brought you to me

magic bathed in simple beauty and sparrows' songs

life, sleep the afternoon

like all the clouds and seas comprise

some sacred gift to you

some melancholic tune

in the sun you're lying next to me

every day, the refrain of joy without a name

slow death must have brought you to me

share this barely spoken notion before it's gone

slow days must have brought you to me

magic bathed in simple beauty and sparrows' songs

life, one drop in the sea

born choking on your own breath

Sono Wake Wo (Asian Kung-Fu Generation Cover)

I recorded this cover to use as the ending theme of E1's Dogcatcher Inutaro series we're going to start releasing tomorrow. We talked about Asian Kung-Fu Generation on an episode last year with Hot Dad. I wanted to choose a song where I felt like I could improve on the original, and it turned out pretty good! Certainly more tasteful than the original I think lol. I also made a new YouTube, Spotify, Bandcamp, and (recent-ish) Instagram for any non-podcast music I put out from here on if you care to follow.
