June news - Tilting the scales
Added 2024-07-01 02:01:34 +0000 UTCHello again, dear folks on Patreon!
We've got a pretty lightweight newsletter this month, only ...oh wait no it's 8 pages >:3
The first article was co-written by Lathreas and Tiltwolf, and covers a part of the integument review project we haven't discussed much in our newsletters before - where the material properties of scales meet biomolecular details. They go into how scales can be both strong and flexible, and how these properties are influenced by the mixture of keratins and other proteins present. Even the specific types of keratin matter for this, and different kinds appear in different tissues. We look forward to posting more details like this about scales in the near future as we're putting the finishing touches on Chapter 3 of the Integument Review project!
The second article is another volunteer spotlight, of Tiltwolf, hosted by SvarOS. Tilt is our CSO and absolutely brilliant - every discussion I have with them, they teach me something new. (I literally learned about the "hairball" thing today! ...context is in the article. ) They're also really kind and supportive, and are exactly the sort of person who will just always make your life better. This interview's a pleasure to read!
Thank you, sincerely, for your support and being part of our community. Many things are becoming dramatically more tangible recently...and we're just halfway through the year!
