FYI about sales taxes (exempt)

You're about to receive an email tomorrow from Patreon talking about how sales taxes will be treated for certain benefits on Patreon.
It is currently our position that all benefits here are exempt from sales tax, and we treat the relevant tangible goods as marketing or fundraising expenses internally. It appears that our treatment of sales tax exemption is in agreement with Patreon's interpretation: "Candles, Tshirts, mugs, mailed coloring pages [...] Taxable in all states in which Patreon is collecting, unless the item is a one-time thank you gift."
If any of this changes, we'll let you know. You shouldn't need to take any actions at this time.
We think everything should be set up correctly, but please let us know if you get assessed sales tax and we'll try to get it fixed ASAP.
