Vayl's Firth - Coraline Manor

Vayl's Firth doesn't have nobility. That is to say, they don't have hereditary titles. But they do have wealthy families who, for the most part, occupy the same roles in society that nobles would. The Coralines are the richest family in the city, but have never been handed the chain of office to rule it. They pretend to be offended at this, but the reality is that they know the secret of the rulers of Vayl's Firth and would never accept it.

Vayl doesn't love that the Coralines know his secret, but he does know that they command a powerful fleet of pirates and smugglers. That fleet can be used to protect the city or it can be used to take control of it. Vayl doesn't think they'd succeed if they attempted a coup, but he'd rather not take the chance. And the Coralines have kept his secret to themselves for centuries so far. However, the family's current heir is known to be a bit of a drunken loudmouth, which Vayl finds very concerning. If the young Coraline can't keep his mouth shut, Vayl may feel the need to deal with him.
