The Pit: The Village of Ekersfield and the Mines (Work-in-Progress)

These are the first three levels of the giant pit megadungeon I'm working on. I've got 23 levels planned, but I get the feeling it'll end up being closer to 30 by the time it's done. You can see the current plan at the link above, but I think some of those areas are going to end up having more than one floor. And I'll probably let patrons propose ideas for and vote on a couple more levels to add to the pit as well.

Anyway, I'm gonna get back to coloring all this. Let me know what you think so far!

Thanks! I think it's going to get a lot more interesting as it goes further down.

Yep, that's how they all are, including Brazenthone. There are a handful of maps where I did draw a substantial amount on my tablet rather than on paper, but I didn't draw over a scan there either.

Ah that makes sense, quite surprising actually, I've never noticed any copying marks. Is this the same for full coloured mals like brazenthrone?

This absolutely rules. Very excited to see the final result.

The top level of the village (in the bottom of the photo) is on the surface. But the lower part of the village (in the upper right) is carved into the walls around the pit. Then the mines are below that.

Milby's Maps

No, I don't trace anything. I ink the drawings before scanning them and use them as-is (aside from a few touch-ups).

Milby's Maps

The top level, is the the village itself going to be built into the walls of the mine or will it be on the surface?

So you do end up retracing everything digitally? Do you feel it's worth the extra step on pencil rather than starting out digitally?

SonicDart

I just scan the image, erase everything that isn't black and color underneath the lines. If there's anything more specific you want to know about, feel free to ask.

What's your process for going from paper to digital?
