This is probably some kind of heresy, but I actually think this version of the map is a lot more interesting than the proper one. At least, I think it's more useful for RPG purposes. The other version is a castle. And it can't not be a castle. Which is fine, there's always a use for a castle in a fantasy RPG.
But without the walls, it can be a lot of other things. I can see a temple, a monastery, a college or academy, a fortified village, a trading outpost, maybe even a wizard's tower. Anyway, I thought I'd spend another day to open up those options for you.
Well, after drawing three historical castles back-to-back, I am really looking forward to drawing a map without having to stare at a 150-year-old floor plan, trying to figure out where the hell the other end of a staircase is. I mean, I love drawing real places, but it's nice to be able to make stuff up once in a while too.
Next, I'll be drawing a desecrated monastery. Once inhabited by peaceful monks, the place was taken over by cultists and turned into something that looks like it belongs on the cover of a Slayer album. Maybe a fountain of blood, some demonic sigils painted on the floors, a corpse on the altar. Let's see what I can come up with.
Anyway, that's it for now. If you've got any thoughts on the map, let me know!
