An update on the giant ship.

These are the pencils for the enclosed parts of the upper four decks of the ship. There are another three decks below this plus the topside left to draw, but I'm going to get all this inked first.

I'm pretty happy with it so far. What do you think?

I am already planning on using this as my BBEG's base. My party has already met said BBEG, they just haven't realized what all they've dedicated themselves to pursuing. Can't wait for more!

Ok great yeah I would definitely use this in my Eberron pirate campaign. I’m going to use it as an advance flag ship if my villain fleet.

There's no gun deck, but there are quarters for marines who serve as the town guard. I'll have tokens for cannons if you want to arm it. They'd probably just go on the upper deck.

There are six masts and they're about 3-4 feet (1-1.3m) wide on the map, which seems about right to me. You might be looking at the support beams around the market, though? If so, those are actually just supports.

Will this ship have any gun decks or does it have to be defended by other smaller ships.

Parker Wimberly

Oh they just looked a little small for a ship of that size so I thought they were support beams. Masts typically needed to be large at the base so the masts wouldn't bend against the wind and the weight of the ship. Since the ship is so large I personally just think the masts would need to be bigger or maybe just add a few more. I attached a link to an image of one of Zheng He's treasure ships if you want to use it as a reference for the masts, since it is a good example of a colossal wooden sailing ship similar in size to what you are drawing and worked very well, but it is just a suggestion. https://www.stephensandkenau.com/ship/zheng-he-treasure-ship/

It's a sailing ship. Those circles running down the center of the long decks are the masts.

Is the Ship moved by Sail, Ores, Paddles, or magic. Or is it so large it needs to be towed by other ships or some sea creature. Just curious how the ship gets around since I don't see masts on your plans so far.

There will absolutely be a Spelljammer version of this.

Milby's Maps

Whether or not you make a Spelljammer-specific version of this map, that's how I'll use it, if I can squeeze it into an already busy campaign! So many Milby maps, so few sessions! Looks amazing.

This is perfect for am upcoming game in a home brewed world where many halflings clans live on huge ships like this one. I'll be running a short story arc set on a ship just like this. This is amazing!

TheBeardedBarbarian

Absolutely. Even couple of flooded compartments open to outside where there may be some "stow aways" or maybe even a "pet" to be unleashed on others. Lol

There's going to be a dungeon section within the ship, too. The aft part of the second-lowest deck will be an abandoned, closed-off area with rotting walls that's infested with mold and rats. I thought it'd be cool to have something like that in there, where there might be monsters, stowaways or something hidden that you could send the party in to deal with.

This is awesome. The first ever ship mega dungeon. ❤️
