Tir Thelandira: The Plan So Far

Here's a map with all the locations I've got planned for Tir Thelandira. There are 12 in all, of which 3 are already drawn. For another 6, I have a pretty good idea of what will be there. And for the last 3, I'm going to let patrons decide. I'll take proposals for ideas for those locations and hold a vote to determine which ones get drawn.

Okay, let's talk about the first nine locations. If you haven't seen the lore, here you go.

The other locations are marked 1, 2 and 3. These are the ones I'm leaving up to you. I did this for the Black Loch and the ideas you submitted were so good I decided to do it again with Tir Thelandira. Here are a few guidelines on each location:

  1. This can actually be in one of two places: the little island in the river OR the swamp to the east of Oakenhold.
  2. This can be anywhere on the island, so if your idea is for a location on the coast, that's fine. It doesn't have to be where the dot is.
  3. This can be anywhere near the marked area, so if you want it by the lake or in the forest, that's fine. It can also be on that small island in the bay.

I'll send out a message to all patrons asking for your ideas on the first location in a day or two. While a lot of the places on the map are settlements, I'd love to get ideas for other types of places as well. Think it over. I know there are a ton of good ideas out there and I really do want to hear them. Help me make this world.

Cool, I'll put that on the ballot. Thanks!

to me its definately something fae themed.... perhaps a field of Dandelions, guarded by the Dandy-lion - a fae-lion creature who could be an oracle or someone whos open to deals with mortals if they are desparate enough to accept his offers^^

Little river island.

Sounds good. Is the lair on the river island or in the swamp? Or is either good with you?

For 1, given the amount of greenery you’ve got going on, would be a perfect place for a green dragon’s lair. Their amphibious nature give them ample opportunity to travel through and about the island. And there’s plenty of territory to lord over. Whether or not the populace knows is up for debate, but it could be interesting. Or a bullywug tribe.

All 3 of those sound excellent. I hadn't even thought about the possibility of pirates showing up in Tir Thelandira to rob the gold ships, but it makes sense that they'd show up at some point. Anyway, I'll put those on the ballots for you, thanks!

There's definitely a Celtic influence on the wood elves. I took a lot of inspiration from Celtic iron age architecture and designs. Those ideas sound great, I'll put them on the ballots for #1 and #2.

1 if you want to keep to the Celtic theme could be a twist on the Mythical Island of Hy-Brasil (A mythical island off the coast of Ireland). This island was said to be surrounded by fog and only appear once every seven years. The island was said to be home to Irish gods or be a paradise where an advanced society of monks lived. The island could be a sacred place protected by magical fog and maybe a secret portal to the Feywild or something else.

2 could defiantly be a burial island where the elves go to bury the dead in mounds or can be another settlement like there is a small pirate hideout on the island being used by a small band of pirates trying to rob the ships bringing the mined ore back from the colony.

Ethan, J.

I agree with that sentiment for 3 and 2. But for 3 how about Menhirs (late bonze age structures which are independent standing stones placed by people) they were also like henges but with some unique twists. The giant stones were placed by earth elementals or the elves and are keeping giant Earth elementals asleep. The local elves know not to disturb them but the colonists don't (FYI there are lots of Celtic myths of giants hurling boulders at each other in battle explaining free standing rocks in fields and becoming hills) I think this is good idea like the players wander in the area and accidently wake an earth elemental the size of a hill. It can be called the Menhir Battlegrounds.

I see a lot of neolithic and Celtic influences. I think given how large the fields to the east are, it would be a perfect opportunity to include a henge-type structure. Perhaps that adds another component to the struggle? The henge are used for important religious rituals and with the colony nearby - it makes it harder for the Elves to participate in important seasonal rituals. #2 could be a type of burial ground or burial mound done in a neolithic style.
