Top Secret Video: Do Not Watch

Hi everyone :)

It always takes us a long time to complete the Paris Fashion Week megavideo, so we wanted to give everyone a quick questions video to tide you over :)

I cannot wait to release the new megavideo. This is our 10th Paris Fashion Week and I strongly believe this is our best coverage yet.

It's such a privilege to do this work for you all. Dani and I don't take it for granted. You all have enabled us to envelop ourselves in the world we love most. We bust our asses to make sure we pay you back in quality work :)

Enjoy :)

I guess Gucci

Has to be Chanel! The lack of construction detail is amazing to me and consumers are willing to pay for these imperfections is even more incredulous!

Robert May

Especially when he said "gimmicks" lol. The towel skirt thing sparked some reddit schadenfreude on r/Balenciaga when some rich boy posted a fit pic and bragged about how much he spent on it. The fit was what you might expect: huge black pants, a black hoodie and yeah, a brown towel wrapped around his waist. Pretty silly. Anyway, there was some discourse, and then 5 hours later he came back online to complain that one of the buttons popped off while he was just like, walking around town. He was desperate, sharing pictures being like "IS THIS NORMAL?" and even Balenciaga stans in the sub were like "man it's a towel"

Nope! Making clothes takes hundreds of hours of skill-building. I was born to do what I'm doing now :) I do and have never wanted to make clothes 💫💫

Bliss Foster

is luckily not 6 Grand:DD

Fun video!

Jennifer

The brand has to be Dior or Chanel, Chanel has had bad quality allegations for yearsssss. Chipping hardware, peeling leather, loose threads. Who knows, but if that’s what you said you definitely wouldn’t be the only one who thinks that 🤷‍♀️

Tulsi Von

Balenciaga sprang to mind at once…

Marisa

That throne! Plus I love that your father has a keen creative eye like you. It’s in the genes! Awesome!

Marisa

I can show you around!!

ian campbell-salerno

If you don't mind asking: Apart from actually starting a brand, have you ever created clothes yourself? So just for private use/friends/to experiment? :)

Tobias Rakus

That’s so cool! I’ve only spent time in Cavarzere and a quick trip to Chioggia. Jealous! Will have to make it out there sometime as well 💫💫

Bliss Foster

Oh fun fact bottega veneta hq, “factory” and academy are also a 25 min ish drive

ian campbell-salerno

I have a secondhand suit from them that I love.

JS

Oh diesel too

ian campbell-salerno

Vicenza (Renzo Rosso is from Bassano which is technically part of Vicenza). I’m a 20 min drive from most margiela, Marni, Jil Sander, dsquared(🤢imo) factories and offices

ian campbell-salerno

Hey Ian! So cool you live in the heart of Italian manufacturing. If you don't mind my asking, what city do you live in?

Bliss Foster

This is great feedback, thank you :)

Bliss Foster

I've seen solid stuff from them 🤷‍♂️

Bliss Foster

ahhhh shit, get well soon.

Bliss Foster

What a badass painting

For your first question, it must be Christian Dior. The time of the beep was about 4 syllables!; the Lady Dior is this price point; and there is nothing more gimmicky than the MISS DIOR graffiti letters on bags. Oh- and it juxtaposes the Dior jacket you show- which is indeed stunning.

Fiona Richard

As someone who lives in the exact city where a lot of the “made in Italy” high fashion is manufactured, I know exactly what is and what isn’t high quality. I say this because the sheer amount of articles that get “binned” because of quality errors is insane. The good thing is that they are not wasted, they are just put into circulation through factory outlets in the area. The diesel group pays such close attention it’s scary. I’ve purchased margiela items for super cheap over a year ago and I have yet to find the “defects”. So I guess what I’m saying is there are brands/ conglomerates that care and others that don’t. It must be lvmh, I doubt it’s kering…but who knows (maybe balenciaga…)

ian campbell-salerno

This comment reminded me of a recent experience at Hermès. I was looking at one of their jacket they had in the store. It was cotton bomber with a very interesting design. While the outside looked fine, upon opening the jacket I started noticing loose threads all over and worse it was also coming off near the zipper. You may be more on point than you think.

Angus Kilgore

I'd put the entire LVMH conglomerate in that opening answer. Everytime I look at Fendi, Dior, Loewe, LV, and look at the price I have to ask myself why. Piana is not better than Zegna or Brioni. Hennesy tastes like trash for the price. Lets also not forget the slave labor allegations against grape suppliers and not paying people for raw materials from earlier in the year.

Angus Kilgore

Definitely DIOR 🤣

Love these informal videos. Just bought the Laundry Book for my husband for xmas. For me the perfect piece of clothing is Raf Simon’s color block wool western shirts from Calvin Klein ❤️

Maya

steve madden?

jaxsen beardslee

I’m guessing the brand is Prada or mark Jacob’s

Eric Seel

I know you consider these videos to be of lower quality, but these videos are how I know as much as I do about fashion. I definitely like the new quality over quantity system you have, but don’t be shy with these types of videos as well!

Some of the quintessential Rick Owens items remind me of “cholo” uniforms from the 90’s. They’re basically oversized items based on the hemlines but they’ve been altered in width for that tailored look...and also mainly dyed black. At least that’s my take, with Rick being born and raised in California with a large Hispanic population

As much as I hate “cores”, I think it’s a fashion tourist way to refer to caricatures that are easy to digest. It’s similar to when people find out I used to be an architect and the first question is usually what your style/favorite architecture style. It doesn’t really work like that when you’re actually designing. Plus there’s certain styles of architecture specific to regions because of things like weather, politics etc. I’m def not going to go down that rabbit hole with just a minor interaction with someone. lol.

David Pacheco Garcia

Call me boring if you want, but...does that Max Mara stuff look fucking great or what?!
