Common Ground! A Useless Dinner Story!

Hey Patrons,

As mentioned on Monday, we are going to pump out some Patreon inspired videos this week to catch up on the backlog. We intend to have at least one video per Wednesday after we finish these going forward. Since it is currently Wednesday, in a way this is the spiritual first in that effort.

They won't all be this long or rambling, but everything has to start somewhere.

THANK YOU ANINA.

Cheers,
Evan and Francesco

Common Ground! A Useless Dinner Story!

Love the name Common Ground! I didn't realize it was a play on "Rare Earth" until you said it now, and it made me love it even more! I'm looking forward to seeing more of these, and very eager to see that new batch of Rare Earth! P.S. Thanks Anina!

Thanks, Anina (great name)! I'm not an expert, but I definitely know a good bit about mental illness, and I think what you were saying isn't quite what's going on with her psychosis. I think it's more likely that just as she's able to hallucinate this other person, she's also able to hallucinate the Coke that invisible person had already there or other things. Indeed, Niko telling her to leave might have been processed by her brain as "Can I take your order?" In her delusion she may have very well thought that she did own the place for all we know. Regardless, from what I've read, brain scans on a person hallucinating activates the same parts of the brain as actually physically seeing whatever you are normally seeing. We still don't know all the science about the brain by any means, but look at it this way: Compare what she's hallucinating to a "normal" person dreaming. We're not physically manifesting anything we see in the dream. Our brains extrapolate the dream surroundings based on its/our common understanding of how the world works. It's not normally going to have a person you're talking to in a dream walk around on her hands rather than her feet. Our brains take a common frame of reference. Your brain can understand this: "Ths sntnc is mssng mst of its vwls." It understands it because of the common frame of reference is our core knowledge of English language, grammar, and structure.
