The Queen's Curiosity

Adventuring can give you experiences that while not necessarily good or bad , will never the less stay with you for the rest of your life.

We were a small party, not really equipped for monster fighting. We were exploring the forest in the hope of scavenging parts from that crash from the end of the war. A thanomagus, a factotum, a doctor and me the only real combatant.

The thanomagus, Landis , steered us to the highest concentration of dead bodies, reasoning that that was probably the site of the crash. Instead, we came across an immense cave, tall as a large bank. Landis apologized profusely. The factotum, Lillet shrugged and reasoned that we should check it out anyway, seeing as we came all this way. Dead bodies probably still meant good scavenge.

As I approached the cave, though, I heard what I can only describe as a delighted gasp. I heard the unmistakable sound of an immense creature approaching. My ears ringed with the shift in pressure.

Then this...thing..this monster woman seemed to practically appear from thin air before us. I reach for my axe and the doctor bellows at me to take no action. Possibly more than 30 feet tall and made from the parts of no less than 5 different animals I had to fight all my instincts to listen to them.

The enormous woman plucked me from the ground and I couldn't help but squawk. The creature held me tight in two hands and began to speak. She glanced high at an audience only visible to her apparently. Her voice, high and musical but with a constant insectoid trill that made my bones hum.

"This one is a beauty! You can tell from its green skin, flatter nose and pointed ears that it is an ork. A strong one at that. I can feel it squirming in my hands! This one has a beautiful coat, too. Orks always have black or white hair. This particular one has a mixture of the two. It's about 6'2" Which is a good size, but they have been known to get to 7 feet! They can't gain access to the ley line of mana and magic, but orks are naturally strong with HEIGHTENED sense. They also have unique vocal chords. This one isn't gonna be the best example of that, so I'm gonna set it back."

She planted a kiss on my forehead and gently placed me back on the ground. She gestured and spoke to her unseen audience one more.

"We'll have to keep looking, but this was a beauty catch!"

She returned to her cave, her skin altering its colour to blend in with the stones of her home once more.

The doctor checked me over. I was fine, I guess.

I like the idea that the faerie queen thinks she hosting a fishing style show for the faeries.

I got a request for a bug girl, I hope this is okay.

She hasn't currently got wings. She grows them as she needs them.
