In the 21st century, an epidemic quickly escalated to the eyes of the world. Caused by a bio-chemist named Bernice Oliva in a small part of North America. Originally, she would create small, niche potions and inventions to sell to the highest bidder on the black market. Works like her Fat Displacement Tea would gain her much money while some like the Body Compression Belt were complete flops. Her great fortune was not enough to feed her greed for more and while at her day job as a college professor, she was personally contacted for a deal. Bernice was asked to create a potion to increase fertility. Not one to ask questions, she began work on the potion. One of her safety tests was a study of how her prototype would effect people. In the guise of a get together with coworkers from the college, she spiked many people’s drinks with the Fertility Drug. Not many were affected, but many side effects were found. First, due to her own mistake, she herself was affected as well as her coworker Alexis. Not only has the potion reactivated her own reproductive system in her old age, but the two sport radically boosted egg production. The two have become so pregnant that in mere weeks they both sport a baby bump equal to that of a full term pregnancy. While this was far beyond what Bernice intended, she still records the effects.

Increased hunger is a normal effect of pregnancy, but not to this degree. The two have gained appetites proportionate to the amount to children they both bear. To satisfy this, Bernice invents the Meal Nuke Capsules, compressed dehydrated supplements designed to quickly satisfy hunger while being cheap to produce. The food like substances can fill someone with a buffet’s worth of gelatinous paste that’s easy to digest, but can cause massive weight gain if too many are eaten too quickly. The drug also exponentially increased their sex drive. Originally not noticed as the two ladies were already fairly promiscuous, but the two sooner became near insatiable. Bernice would rather deal with the increased need rather than go back to try fixing the drug. While many of these affects were due to Bernice’s own carelessness and lack of foresight, she did make sure some strengths were baked in. Strengthened spines and pelvic bones, along with the muscles surrounding them and the abs allowed the mothers to carry their monstrous baby filled bellies without much discomfort. Their hulking increased weight doesn’t seem to slow them down in movement aside from fitting into clothes and doorways. The increased ab muscles would allow them to birth their broods safely when necessary. While the muscles didn’t grow much, the stability would allow for mobility no matter the cause. Skin elasticity was another perk of the drug, allow women to grow with no worry of skin tearing or bruising. This extended to their organs as well, to avoid any internal complications. Men also exhibited the increased libido. Instead of the wild egg production, men exhibited increased sperm count. This coupled with the increased muscle strength and elasticity, more men displayed larger erections and could expel gallons of sperm. However, the increased fertility in women was engineered to affect women 100% of the time. Men would be affected at a much lower 15% of the time. By the time Bernice had reached half way through her own pregnancy, she decided to do another test.

This time, she delivered the drug to an agent. This agent was to find his target, give her the drug, charm her into motherhood, and then leave. The target was one of her own daughters, Davi, a college student at the school she taught at. This way, she could have her eyes on her at any point while being able to ask questions that may have been too much for Alexis to answer. The job was done and Bernice’s daughter found herself pregnant. Davi exhibited the same affects as her mother was. Increased appetite, strengthened body, increased libido, weight gain, and incredibly high fertility. But with this test, Bernice found one last effect that she hadn’t accounted for. She found that the more Davi had sex, the more growth she’d experience. Apparently, when Davi hooked up with an ex and became official, her drive had an outlet. The amount of growth she experienced in such a short time lead to the discovery that if the womb was stimulated by repeated access to sperm, it would allow the gestating fetuses to divide. This trend could take place at any point of the pregnancy before the ninth month. After giving birth, Bernice sold the drug to her benefactor, keeping a sample for herself to try selling to the Japanese black market to counter their low birth rate issues. Soon, Bernice’s conscience would catch up with her when it dawned on her how many lives she made difficult around her, including her friends and family. This would reach a head when she found out that the benefactor had affected a large amount of the water supply in the town with the drug. Now it was affecting any and all people who drank it.

Bernice’s atonement for this crisis was to make an adoption agency that could guarantee that the children were taken care of. Under an alias, she sought to help those who were suddenly pregnant while keeping her own involvement unseen. In her own experiences, more unseen side affects were discovered. While looking for a way to get rid of students who found out her secret involvement of the epidemic, she discovered that the increased hunger and elasticity lead to her being able to eat other people. While daunting at first, she also found that her sense of guilt was blurred by her libido. Eating people would allow her to sate her hunger, but would trigger weight gain and kick start the need to mate. She would soon find herself in a constant battle of her senses. Her body craved more food and more sex while her mind told her to stop gaining weight and stop getting pregnant. This flux of mind and instinct would soon give way to the urges pushing her further and further into carelessness. The greedy Bernice singlehanded fell to her own lust and gluttony while spiraling everyone else around her to the same.

The epidemic seemed to be isolated to Georgia, Florida, Alabama, and a few other surrounding states, but before it was caught, some afflicted adults would travel around, spreading the epidemic further. Within the next year, the pregnancy plague would turn from rumor to reality. Some cases included Cream, who became pregnant in Africa while on an abroad trip to help the poor. She brought water with her that was affected, leading to the country to also become afflicted. James, a local college student, inadvertently knocked up a few women at the college. These dropout mothers would soon return to their various homes out of state, spreading the afflicted bloodline. Hunnie, an Indian teacher at the college would become pregnant and return home to deliver her large litter as well. The biggest case being that of Logyn, a small town girl who after a rough childhood grew a disdain towards the idea of a large family, swearing to celibacy. Soon after getting married and moving abroad she’d quickly become pregnant, starting a large family of her own in an area of England. On top of this, Bernice did successfully sale her product in Japan, starting the effects there. Now, the pregnancy epidemic had it’s roots in many areas, slowly but surely spreading and becoming common place around the world.

The mysterious benefactor that originally contacted would continue to make the idea of these terrifying pregnancies common place. They would use their wide grip to advertise propaganda in an attempt to glorify it as a popular fad. Now it was cool to be pregnant. The company “Baby Booming Clothing” was originally a normal maternal clothing line, but due to outside influence, was pushed into making clothing designed for these monstrous pregnancies. The president was replaced with the somewhat dim and easily fooled, Britt. Her pregnancy obsessed vice president, Dizzy, would make sure that Britt used her position and her company’s power to make their way into the public eye with fashion for these mother’s who needed custom clothing to fit their ballooning bodies. Britt would even push extremes, forcing even her employees to get pregnant or be fired. A rival company owned by the similarly successful and baby crazed Tao, would eventually adopt the same approach, now spreading the idea of glory and beauty in being pregnant.

Young adults being unable to ignore their newly multiplied lusts, and falling for the normalizing of titanic pregnancies and early parenthood, would push the populations of the resulting areas high in a single year with no signs of slowing. The government would respond to keep poverty from becoming wide spread, now offering aid for those with a massive amount of children. This would backfire immensely as those who were just under the number of kids for aid would soon do anything to receive the aid, having more kids immediately. On the opposite spectrum, adoption agencies were used much more as while glorified, some people found that they were unable to deal with parenthood and would rather their children have a better chance.

The following years would push the population growth and fertility rates through the roof. This would soon expose a couple of other affects that Bernice’s drug would produce years later. While it was very rare at first, soon it would surface in more and more cases that homosexual relationships with women could produce pregnancies. Sperm was no longer strictly needed to fertilize eggs. If women had enough passion, even something as small as kissing or trading sweat could start a pregnancy. That said, the second effect became known as well. Just like the first, in rare cases at first, it was found that some women were so fertile that most forms of touch could land a woman pregnant. Kissing, hand holding, or even just touching pelvises would immediately result in pregnancy. The final effect that wasn’t noticed at first was infertility. While it obviously did boost the fertility of everyone, a very small percentage of the populace found themselves somewhat infertile. Eggs would be produced but wouldn’t produce offspring when combined with sperm. Cases were recorded that only those of the highest fertility could somehow get reproduction started with these small few.

Less that 5 years after the initial outbreak, huge pregnancy and large families were the new norm. It was not only accepted but encouraged to have at least 50 offspring. The adoption rate had also skyrocketed as with the new look on titanic families being normal, many more families were open to adopting kids while also having them of their own. Bernice’s actions and the benefactor’s influences had hit the mark, transforming the world and changing how everything was understood.
