[Update] Sweaty Summertime Shrinking – Crossing the halfway mark with animating

I've got another set done, which pushes this animation over the halfway point in terms of getting shots animated. Still a lot left to do of course, both big and small, but bit by bit this 4 min plus behemoth is getting ground down to completion.

Making a couple of cuts:

Along with animating and updating shots I've also cut a couple of them as well. First is the close up of the bottle with condensation shot, which used to be between Lug's foot being in Hugo's lap and him going to lick it:

It wasn't really having the impact I'd imagined when I'd first blocked out this animation and instead feels kind of stilted and interrupts the flow of the scene.

Its removal makes the shift into the close-up shot of Hugo lapping Lug's sole kind of abrupt, though honestly in a way I kind of like. I'm debating whether to alter that following shot or to leave it as is, but I'll leave revisiting it until after I've finished animating the rest.

The second cut shot is the flat under foot shot when Hugo is shrinking under Lug's foot, which was in between the first shot of Hugo shrinking beneath Lug's lowering foot and the shot where Hugo is under the arches of Lug's toes:

This one ended up feeling like padding at the end of the first shrinking segment, I much prefer the finality of Lug's toes clamping down and then going straight into Hugo being beneath the arches of those toes instead.

I also still have another 'under a glass floor' type of shot later in this animation, so cutting this one didn't feel like too much of a loss.

What's up next:
I'll be continuing with animating shots and will post an update once I've got another set done. Another six feels like a good number and will also complete the toe-worship-to-shrinking segment of this animation as well.

Along with continuing to work on this animation, I'll also be looking to set aside some time to work on some smaller stuff as well.

I've been holding off on working on anything else because I wanted to make substantial progress with this one, which I feel like I have, but now that 2025 is also past halfway done there's some fx and compositing stuff I want to get practice in with ahead of a special project I have in mind for next year.
