Goddess Maker Mechanic: OMNI-HUB
Added 2024-10-17 07:25:05 +0000 UTCIntroduction
In Goddess Maker, the Omni-Hub is the game area that binds the route-based game structure together and serves as the method of recognizing 100% completion.
Purpose
As Goddess Maker is a route-based game, there is a pressing need to manage and incentivize global progress, the Omni-Hub system, when introduced, will overhaul the game system to the end of making up for faults of the typical linear postgame.
One of major overhauls will be the new save and load management system, that forgoes the engine’s direct saving system to a more object-oriented saving and loading model, that’s both independent between the game sections, as well as featuring a central saving system that has authority over the others.
In the ideal circumstance, this would help with carrying over save data to newer builds as the central save data of the Omni-Hub would be mostly boolean (true, false), apart from data that is solely incremental in a read-only format, to avoid issues that comes with how save data is interpreted.
So while game section save data is permissible to be lost, as not finishing a playthrough of a game section is the same as forfeiting the session, this Omni-Hub save data will be of a much more important caliber to keep and transfer over.
Accessibility
In the full game, the Omni-Hub is unlocked after the first blind playthrough and is an aesthetic reflection to a character gaining omnipotence.
For demo purposes, this helps the player understand the scope of the game from afar and lets them gauge their overall progress, and so is a feature that will be present in an abridged form, sooner than later.
Given that the Omni-Hub is omnipresent in nature, much fourth-wall breaking features are available to the player such as:
Omni-Observation
Omni-Observation is a global expansion to the Observation mechanic, that features a full gallery mode of all characters, locations, etc. whom the player has encountered and can interact with posthumously.
Omni-Challenges
The Omni-Challenges system is a global achievement system, in where earning achievements rewards the player with gifts, such as new ascension stories, new game plus modifiers and content, additional fanservice, etc.
Since Goddess Maker, in its most ideal form, is a culmination of different gameplay styles (Managing a Laboratory, Intelligence Mind Games, RPG Adventures, etc.), the developer will hide special challenges that may prone difficult to overcome, but will be fun for the player to pursue.
Keep in mind that with some of the game sections being more focused on its linear progression than others, some these special challenges can be missed or mechanically softlocked from achieving, resulting in the player needing to replay the game section from the beginning.
Omni-Records
Goddess Maker keeps track of many of the actions you perform so that can eventually be displayed as a statistic, both in the form of a global incremental count of how much something had occurred, as well as the inclusion of a record of the shortest amount a thing occurred during a playthrough.
Note that the newest of these records will only be saved upon the completion of a game section and cannot be viewed being appended during a playthrough.
Omni-Records also serves as an event gallery, that keeps track of the events you’ve witnessed and those you still need to discover, as well as allowing the player to view them in their independent form without their effect on the gameplay.
And when concerned on knowing the absolute game completion percentage, the Omni-Records will perform the function of best conveying the details of both the individual Game Section Completions and the Overall Game Completion.
Ascension Tree
As the full game is broken up in unique and differing game sections, meant to be replayed to encounter new experiences and route changes, a node-based route tree can be accessed in the Omni-Hub to provide entry to the beginning of each game section.
When replaying a game section, the player has these three main options when starting a new game session:
New Game
•Playing the game section as the developer intended.
New Game Plus*
•A faster gameplay experience that skips the already experienced bloat, and adds new content to liven replayability.
New Game Custom**
•A customizable and omnipotent from afar gameplay experience.
*New Game Plus is unlocked when the game section is initially completed.
**New Game Custom is unlocked when all the achievements for that game section are acquired.
