I havent seen the movie. As far as anything systemic it would be highly depend on a lot of shit. If he was septic yes he fucked but if its just a fever and his immune system is able to fight it off till he gets better then probably fine as long as they can manage the symptoms. In a SHFT situation antibiotic cream could be the difference between life and death.
