I understood there might be some growing pains as I adjust formats and experiment with new ways of telling stories, and I am very excited to share more as we continue to test the waters! I am glad you found this to be a hit ^^

I am SO excited to be trying different formats. Different stories deserve other methods, and sticking with just one style feels like cheating these stories. Especially as Continuum delves deeper into the lore and semi-monthly "episodes" type territory, simple x-listener stuff won't cut it anymore.
The tricky part of all this is people who enjoy the 1st person POV from my standard x-listener format. The reason narration is crucial sometimes is that filling in the blanks yourself is not the purpose of the story, and in some cases, just derail it. The vast majority of fucking will always stay x-listener, though!
I'm glad you were able to keep up with the different perspective shifts. I tried my best to use stingers to indicate a fundamental change in the unfolding story. 👻

It's so interesting to learn how everyone reacts differently to a new format! I have heard that people were thrown into 3rd POV while typically experiencing my traditional stuff in 1st. Some others were thrown into 1st POV while typically experiencing my standard stuff in 3rd!
This project was always an expository roleplay/audiobook hybrid format with narration. Still, I first had variations of the script where we/our/us is used instead of you/your, and also a variation where I didn't narrate dialogue "for" the listener as I did in this version. And there is a combination of both. I think I will experiment with these elements to see what works best.
The format I choose (narration vs. pure x listener) depends on the story I want to tell. There were nuances in this story, for instance, that was just impossible for me to convey with one-sided dialogue. The tricky part about the kind of storytelling I'm doing is my audios aren't "just" x listener roleplays anymore. They've evolved into this kind of pulp serial, so if I want to tell more intimate stories, x listener works well. Whereas if I want to tell grander stories, narration works to our advantage!
Here's an interesting factoid: my x listener stuff is, for myself, mixed on whether I experience my work in the 1st or 3rd POV. Memory Games is incredibly 1st person, as is OG Shy Girl, BYLM, and Authenticity -- while SLUTW, Noisy Neighbor, and On the Same Page are all very 3rd person. I wonder how narration (no forcing listener dialogue, just simple narration) might affect my experience of these?
A good example would be Sheep's Clothing -- had I added (not replaced anything, but added) bare narration to that piece, how would it affect it? I feel like it might improve it (though I like Sheep's Clothing, I admit it's one of the stories I experience in the 3rd person).
And then there's the issue of bringing certain things to YouTube that I usually would not be able to. BYLM is a lot of sex and not a lot of thinking, allowing the sex to think for the piece--but to re-boot it as a YouTube version, I think narration would buffer the transition from NSFW to YouTube "safe" story well.
I also think how much I force depth of field and vicinity (how far things are, people have walked away, etc., from you, the listener) also affects how much an audio will be received by the listener in 1st or 3rd POV.
Finally, I'm glad you dug the accent! Barnabas was missing that extra something, and I'm pleased with what we came up with here. Many Chicago area vowel shifts are identical to coastal New England, so simply slipping into non-rhotic (or soft-rhotic) and letting my mouth naturally shape the words from there was fun and a relatively straightforward exercise! I have family that talks like Barnabas, and they've never stepped foot out of the state, lol.

Tommm!
This audio has been an adventure. I’ve listened to this half a dozen times already. I’m not exaggerating. The first time it threw me a bit when you changed POV, but once I realized that’s what was happening then I got used to it. I definitely liked the insight that the narrative provided. You’re right that it made the experience much more like reading one of my romance novels with the added information of what the characters were thinking and seeing.
I LOVED the Rufus cameo! I just know I’m at risk of becoming a cat person with Rufus around.
I also smiled hearing that Barnes threw down a beacon “a click thataway”. I felt right at home! This is a very commonly used Canadian term, as well as it being one used in the military.
We already discussed this on Twitch but you did such a good job with his accent. One of my favourite accent moments is Barnes saying, “Don’t underestimate the power of R&R, Specialist.” I could not stop repeating “R&R” over and over but with it sounding more like, “Awe ‘N Gnaw” LOL I love it! And that “galaxies are being created because we’re making out” music, is so awesome. I think I could listen to that and just zone out and relax for hours (I was going to say meditate but THAT’S not what I mean). There’s just something about that music that sweeps me away.
I did like this format switch up and I definitely do want to hear you do more like this and explore the possibilities this may open with your characters and story telling….BUT, I would REALLY be sad if you stopped doing the previous format altogether. I would definitely miss them. For me, the first person experience is more easily established in the format used with your original audios….even the M4M ones…I AM the listener, it doesn’t matter that I’m F and not M. For the duration of that audio I am the person you’re taking to. Period.
The new format puts me into third person, which isn’t bad, it’s just a different experience. Having you speak for “us” makes that happen (for me). It makes it more as though I’m watching a movie or reading a book, which of course can still be awesome and super sexy. Hot is hot. Sexy is sexy and a great story is a great story, however you experience it.
Although I do wonder how different I would find it if you didn’t voice our dialogue, but still left in all the narrative (ours included)? I wonder if that would change the perspective back to first person? Interesting…(sorry, I’m brainstorming while typing this post but I’m curious).
Bottom line, I really liked it, Tom! The changes that were made, all of it. Kudos for taking the risk to change things up and try something new. 🌷
After all your hard work this week, make sure to enjoy some “Awe ‘N Gnaw” this weekend! 🤣

Alright. I have thoughts; buckle in. :D
I am really excited for you because I feel like this format opens all sorts of possibilities (if you choose to explore them of course). Don’t get me wrong - the x listener format can be fantastic and in my humble opinion you have a knack for it. ◡̈ But adding narration means the conversations don’t always have to be one-sided and/or limited to male characters, which I’m sure was difficult to orchestrate sometimes. You could even do audios with little to no dialogue and rely on internal monologues. There’s often so much subtext and so much *unsaid* especially early on in relationships… all of those messy IRL dynamics and emotions… thus my excitement at the possibilities for future audios.
I think the narration/exposition was really successful - the descriptive language was really nicely done in painting a picture for us without getting so specific that there was no room to fill in little details on our own. The only thing that was a bit disorienting to me on first listen was that you voiced a few lines of dialogue from the listener… at first I thought you were bouncing back to narration… but I’m going to chalk that up to growing pains with me getting used to the new format, because when I re-listened it made perfect sense to me.
The addition of the listener’s inner dialogue also seemed to add to much more anticipation and emotional buildup, as did those score choices! (The six years of sexual tension probably didn’t hurt, either.) Also, I know you previewed that the audio was going to have narrative, but for some reason I had not considered it would extend to the NSFW parts… I am pretty sure I legitimately blushed, lol. I think this new format seems like it would be just as… meditative, if the mood strikes. I am so curious if it forces a first-person POV for those who usually imagine things in the third-person or vice versa.
One last point before I stop rambling…. “You haunt me” and then “I don’t want all my ghosts escaping at once” was lovely symmetry.

I am not entirely comfortable with this format, it leaves less to the imagination, but it was really well done and the writing was very "chic-lit drama" so I enjoyed it a lot. Love that you tried something new, and I think it was a hit.

Concurrent relocation oh my god!! Remind me to never take a drink while reading audio tags, I choked.
Yeah Barnabas is now my second favorite character because of this one audio. Love the new style with the timestamps, narration and the dialogue! The dialogue was my favorite part, it made things easier to follow and the descriptions of Barnes conjured up some lovely images in my head.
Also hello accent! I can't remember if Barnabas had a pronounced accent in previous audios but I love that he has one in this one. At the beginning it was hard to pinpoint because it sounded like 4 different accents all at once; I heard Boston, NewYork/New Jersey, Chicago and Irish at one point. However when Barnes was talking to the listener shortly after graduation it was so distinctly New York he sounded like an inbetween of Dominick Carisi from SVU and Danny Messer from CSY:NY.
Rufus! Finally the kitty makes an appearance in an audio not just a mention like in the past. This was top tier Tom, so amazing.
