Linda Ronstadt is a blueprint you could get into!

Dylan

I would definitely love to recommended Moonchild, their like an electronic neo soul group to me. My fave songs from them would be Cure, What You’re Doing , and The List

Tony g

Yes!!! such a beautiful, inspiring story 😭

L JF

2nd THIS!!! Stan's gift is absolutely phenominal and his family's story is incredible as well (such overcomers)!!!

Ren

Girl! If you're looking for blueprints, you've gotta add Alison Krauss (& Union Station. her band) to your list. She's a bluegrass and country artist that had basically dominated bluegrass until the genre's recent resurgence, and kept the genre going when it wasn't popular in the mainstream. She had the most Grammys of any female artist before Beyonce surpassed her in the last few years! Her music may not be for you, but thought I'd throw that suggestion out there since I don't feel like she gets mentioned enough when talking about most awarded and influential artists.

Raina Elliott

i definitely felt the same with Pony Boy being a sex appeal dark lust type song. definitely for a scene in AHS 😭

deja

Kara jackson(poet , songwriter , folksy blues) !!! dickhead blues , free , therapy (from her album " why dos the earth give us people to love " ) and praying for a fka twigs album reaction

Hafsa

It’s you reacting to Ponyboy for me. That song made me fell in love with Sophie. That beat was so nasty and I was here for it!

devhassoul

I think you'd like Laura Marling. She's an English folk artist that's been around since the 00s but her later music gets a little more jazzy & bluesy, and her voice & the melodies she writes are gorgeous!

nuadha

i would love to see you check out an artist from New Zealand - Stan Walker! i know your reactions to male artists are rare (and very valid LMFAO) but Stan has a voice that even Beyonce has complimented herself 😭 his ultralight beam cover is INCREDIBLE & i feel you’d love it too! x

L JF

PLZZZ check out Yseult, she is a French singer. She sings in English as well. She has a song called TUNING, and did an amazing live performance for VEVO.

Kadirah

charli xcx references "it's okay to cry" in her song "so I" from brat, so I'm glad you listened to sophie's song <3

rudi!!!

I don't listen to Hozier like that, but even I can appreciate his artistry and talent and his influence on other artists. I understand why people love him, I just don't gravitate towards his music. I will say the one Hozier song I will always listen to all the way through is "Like Real People Do"

Keely

would LOVE to see a reaction to Lawrence’s 2024 album “family business” !! The vocals are RIDICULOUS and the new acoustic version of the album dropped earlier today and it’s CRAZY! I just know you’ll freak out when you hear Gracie’s voice 😭💞

YESSSSSS

Girl please give my girl Aurora a try😫 her new album is so good

Nina

lovedddd this video. i saw hozier in concert a couple weeks ago and it was AMAZING. one thing i noticed is the each hozier song you reacted to was a song from each of his albums in chronological order too which is satisfying hehe and sophie is indeed a blueprint 🙂‍↕️ i’d love to see mk.gee on here

jayson

i definitely love hozier, all of his albums are great and he’s awesome live. and i loved getting to know the other two with you. i wanna see you check out mxmtoon !! (:<3

If I recall correctly, It's Okay To Cry was the first (and I think maybe only?) track SOPHIE ever released with her real voice without that filter she uses on her other ones. Makes it hit even harder.

Andy

Glad you picked up on the vibes for Sophie. Like BRAT, her album Oil of Every Pearl's Un-Insides is someone who's BEEN making music for a long time saying, "I can do anything I want." Like Doechii screaming "I'm everything" in Boom Bap. But it's purposeful while still playful, and always dialed up to 11, even the quieter tracks. The earnestness, sensitivity, and emotional expanse of It's Okay to Cry still hits today.

Mello

Hozier’s Unaired ep is amazing.

Renzo

That makes perfect sense 😭 wow

KioshiWarrior

The Nemahsis lyric about the pool pertains to never caring about what others have unless it’s to make sure they aren’t lacking anything

Si

you mentioned themes of lack of self love & co-dependency in her lyrics which stem from her life experiences as a child of refugees having to face xenophobia & always being tied to her identity as a hijabi.

omg i have waited for Nemah for so long 😭

Twas I who only stans Hozier and Beyonce (niacgl on discord lol). Highly recommend you watch the video for Movement because it's just one ballet dancer throughout! He is a singer-songwriter and I'm so happy you chose to listen to more of his music. And yes! He does have a lot of RnB influences and he openly acknowledges that. He even has a song with Mavis Staples! Happy to hear the other artists for the first time!

SOPHIE OMFG
