So, a lot of you may not know that long before AI generative art was a possibility, I was painting in an entirely different medium. I painted resin statues and garage kits. Here's one that I painted back in 2010 and decided to use as inspiration for some AI work. The sculpture is called Alien Pile and it's 1/6 scale (ie something that's six feet tall in real life is 1 foot tall in 1/6 scale). It was produced by FEWTURE models and sculpted by the master of masters Takayuki Takeya. The first picture here is my paint job on the sculpture ... I tried to go for a color scheme on the domes that both incorporated the greens from Giger and the blues from the lighting in the Alien movies to give them the appropriately creepily-lit look. The remaining pictures were produced in MidJourney using my art as part of the prompt. Thought it would be a fun way to blend my two artistic mediums.
