I’m editing a set from Italy for you all :) Here’s a goofy preview. I’ve been shooting like hell lately, which is awesome. Artists I’ve worked with this month so far include @ellis_au, @eriktranberg, and @theallenhenson and @skyebluewantsu (all on ig)! Tomorrow I’ll be meeting @chrisvirzi from @filthymouthcreative and later, @shoots_with_jessica, another vogue photographer. I commissioned @basedkawaii for an anime commission (it’s a surprise), and @the_hook_up for some crocheted lingerie. I want to thank you all for being here and helping me support the work of other artists! ALSO! I’m making a 2020 calendar! And looking to do a giveaway when they’re done ;) Which photos would you like to see in it?
This month so far, I’ve fostered 3 dogs and networked even more. My first foster is the 7 week old husky puppy (pictured). She was a handful… I had to sleep on the hardwood floor next to her crate every night, or else she would scream and wake up my neighbors. Next was the red husky. I pulled him from the shelter myself, just hours before his scheduled euthanasia. He was very sweet, friendly, trained, and only 2 years old. Why would they kill such a great dog? Because he had a surgical pin sticking out of his hip. He was surrendered to the shelter because his owner couldn’t afford to fix the failed surgery, and he sat in a kennel for weeks with a festering, open wound. It was clear nobody wanted to privately adopt an expensive medical dog, so he was scheduled for The Big Sleep. But Luna Siberian Rescue came to the rescue, I swept him up, they covered the vetting costs, and I fostered him while he healed. He’s now off to another foster home so I was able to take in my third husky this month! I’ve been calling her Zelda, but she doesn’t actually have a name. She’s the one in the second last photo. She was picked up as a stray with no tags and no chips. It’s pretty evident she was abused at some point in her life…she gets very nervous around fast gestures or loud noises. She hasn’t eaten since I picked her up yesterday morning, and only peed once. Indoors. On my rug. Right after I took her on an hour-long walk to use the bathroom. We’re still looking for whoever her last owner was, but I doubt that search will go anywhere without a microchip. PLEASE, if you have a cat or dog, even if they’re strictly indoor, get them microchipped!
The last photo is a pretty sad one. In it, my baby is having seizures, drooling, and lost his ability to walk. This is because he has insulinoma (a pancreatic cancer common in ferrets). My vet and I manage his disease through corticosteroids and monthly checkups, but sometimes he just has bad days where his blood glucose plummets. After getting his bloodwork back, we made the decision to continue his treatment. His other organs are functioning well, and once we figure out the perfect dosage for him, he should act pretty normal. For these "bad days", I bought a glucometer, which is meant to monitor his BG levels at home. This glucometer sucks; I totally wasted $150 on it. I had to stab his paw pads 4x to get a blood sample, then the sample wouldn’t even read… I tried with 10 strips, and each strip cost $1. I felt like I was just hurting my baby for nothing. He’s now better, walking and eating again, but it’s really stressful when that happens. In case you were wondering why I haven’t posted a lot to snapchat in the last few days, that’s why. I’ve just been really stressed about him. I’m so happy he’s better though.
