This is such a great point, thanks for adding to my appreciation of the overall themes of the show. Somewhat related, I saw a comment that the word "planet" is from the greek (?) for "wander."

2025-11-09 13:41:41 +0000 UTCEpisode is beautiful, nothing more needs to be said on that end. I do get where you're coming from when you comment on how Yolenta and the characters before her aren't really talking about heliocentrism whenever they reference it, but something much larger. But also, in a sense, I think heliocentrism represents the larger picture so unbelievably well that I would be hesitant to just dismiss it. Heliocentrism, or Earth-Motion Theory, as they call it in the show----is something really profound because it represents a natural cosmic order within the world, on perhaps the highest scale we'll physically observe in this life. Each characters' striving for proving this truth for what it is, largely comes back to wanting to believe that this world is beautiful at its core. That there is ORDER within the natural laws that make up this world's foundation, order that led to the creation of our perception of beauty, morality, and meaning. In that regard, the greatest purpose of humanity, as part of that natural order and formation of things----is perhaps to uncover the foundations of this world, to then align ourselves alongside that natural order, which is the ever-striving journey towards what we can call "good". And at the source of all of that, traced back to its very beginning, is what we define as "God". Even just thinking about how these cosmic existences all take part in the same natural system of movements, is deeply profound and awe-inspiring. To me, it reveals the hands of a Creator that most DEFINITELY laid down the rules for how existences interact, whether on a microscopic scale or cosmic scale----the foundations for creation and destruction. This line of thinking could definitely be accused of being too abstract, much like Yolenta's. But just like it is to her, this is something that is also very concrete to me... Thanks for the reactions! I'd say this episode was the first one that comes to mind when I initially commented this show under your other posts, precisely because I feel like it mentions a lot of the philosophies that you often talked about! Super glad to see it pulled through for you, even to the extent of bringing you comfort in relatability :D

2025-10-24 00:29:51 +0000 UTCWas not expecting the tree slander lol! Also, yeah Schmidt is such a character......still don't know what to think of him, but he's probably personally been the most annoyingly enjoying to watch out of all the other amazing characters of this show

2025-10-21 00:15:27 +0000 UTCI know I've said this before, but this episode (and your commentary) really does make apparent to me just how much Orb and Dr. Stone are two sides of the same coin for me, and equally as compelling as each other, which may seem silly to some because Dr. Stone's characters don't *talk* about anything nearly as profound, but I do think it very much carries the same underlying themes and, more importantly, exhibits them in a very grounded way though their actions, and reactions. Orb is able to condense a lot of that beauty through words, whereas Dr. Stone crystallizes it into something much more tangible, rather than "being on another planet". I could easily see the main character be one of Orb's future protagonists "carrying the torch", centuries down the line. Orb's profound beauty gave me chills, and Dr. Stone's simple truth at the core of that beauty made me tear up, at times. Different sides, same coin. Also, it's just a fun romp lol. Might be a fun watch to balance out all the heady shows, who knows. Edit: "Childish." How I loathe that word. Is it a sin to be a child? Does a source of joy, or inspiration, or conviction, suddenly become meaningless or reprehensible because it is childish? Doesn't that feeling point to some truth within yourself? Do we ever cease being children? Should we strive to? Few things are as immature as fearing childishness. And immaturity, is what I think most people mean to say. I wish we acknowledged childishness as the virtue it is.
