I'm guessing the courtesan he's referring to is Maomao's mother. And that he did something to her that led to her illness? I'm also wondering what he wants with Maomao, and overall goal.

Like Maomao said when solving this episode's mystery, they seem to be intelligent and pick up on what she's alluding to with her train of thought without her directly saying it. What are your current curiosities about Lakan? Because he definitely appears to be puzzling you a bit, which is fair because he's a very...eccentric and unique individual. But it appears Maomao may know him, so your train of thought might be on the right track. All in all, a pretty straightforward episode. Not always needed, but a welcome change of pace!
