Arcane 2x9 Reaction Extended (YT link below)
Added 2025-01-07 02:14:41 +0000 UTCIn Arcane 2x9, The Dirt Under Your Nails, don't do that to Ekko man, after all he's done for us! He deserves to have his face on a blimp. Or at least get a letter...

Loved your discussions as always, applying themes and lessons from the show out into our broader world. Just wanted to point out at 46:10 that Viktor and Jayce both disappeared, since right after that you said “Jayce has a lot to explain.” He’s gone, can’t explain T_T

2025-01-14 05:49:51 +0000 UTCI noticed a lot of shows use songs with lyrics that literally describe what is happening on screen. I watched Sex Education and there was plenty of that.

2025-01-09 14:05:09 +0000 UTCBro really forgot watching all of Vander’s memories and remaining personality burn away as his human self died in the last episode when Viktor/the Doctor began the ‘evolution’ process

2025-01-09 07:39:15 +0000 UTCJustice for blue-green fishman officer. Best unsung hero trope I’ve seen in a while. Guy was making crucial moves in the background all the way back at the beginning of the season and continued to do so up until making some of the lowkey coolest plays in this finale. I genuinely clapped and was like “THATS DAMN RIGHT!” when Mel shielded him from that crossbow bolt when he was retreating at around 18:00 lol

2025-01-07 16:01:05 +0000 UTCsomething interesting when jinx was attempting to take her life, she only jumped off when she started hearing ekko out to not hurt him with the explosion. it’s likely that the previous loops where she blew up, she just assumed he was a hallucination.

2025-01-07 13:24:58 +0000 UTCWhile Arcane is done (this was confirmed to be the final season), they have talked about specific characters getting spin-offs, namely Mel & especially Jinx/Ekko (these two they've talked about the most). So it's not over yet. Everyone else though is done.

2025-01-07 08:01:16 +0000 UTCThis was a really ambitious finale, I went from thinking we had seasons more of content to having most plotlines wrapped up. I really liked it though. After sitting with it a bit my only gripe is that I feel bad for Ekko haha

2025-01-07 05:44:09 +0000 UTCI like that thought, it's one of those things that looks obvious at first glance but when you look at your actions you realize you aren't always following it correctly

2025-01-07 05:42:34 +0000 UTC"This episode is gonna cliffhanger isn't it?" haha this episode is gonna cliffhanger us in like 100 different ways The way this entire final battle was presented makes it seem like it was a game of League of Legends, and I kind of love it for that, as a fan of the game. But for the show itself, I could understand how the finale of this season might seem too chaotic, lacking direction. I feel like I loved both seasons, just for different reasons. I wonder what they will do next. As far as I know there isn't an Arcane season 3 planned. But due to all the cliffhangers, due to all the set-up, I think there is definitely going to be more. Could be another season of Arcane, or it could be smaller spin-off shows which focus on the various sets of characters. Either way I look forward to any future League of Legends show.

2025-01-07 05:38:23 +0000 UTCIn a way, maybe Jinx learned that her "airship moment" was never a thing that might happen *to* her, whether by chance or by earning it or by taking it. It was a thing that she could make happen herself. I think it goes back as well to the theme of choice you were talking about in this vid. It's not that we have no choice and are complete slaves to the nature of ourselves or the universe; rather, to actually make a conscious choice rather than falling to the baser instincts of humanity or taking the path of least resistance is hard, and so we use the idea that "choice is not real" to absolve ourselves for not doing the hard thing and making a choice rather than being "a passenger," to borrow from Jayce in E8. This also tangentially but maybe relatedly reminds me of a thought I had earlier today unrelated to this: "The present is necessitated by the past, not the other way around; and the future is necessitated by the present, not the other way around."

2025-01-07 05:35:35 +0000 UTCI do think that Jinx is alive (though this may simply be copium), but I don't think she's on the airship. My theory is that, as Viktor had previously re-activated the Hexgates in order to take the Glorious Evolution worldwide, Jinx's Hextech grenade triggered an interaction with the inner mechanisms of the Hexgates which caused her to be teleported far away — who knows where? I do think that she may have decided that it would be better for both herself and her sister to live separate lives from now on, having had this mutual closure of a positive, trusting, symbiotic relationship with each other as well as having mutually made peace with (or at least having started the process of making peace with) the prospect of truly saying goodbye to each other. I think that in this case she may not be stowing away on the airship or a nearby airship in an effort to reconnect with Vi at this moment. After all, Jinx left her sister with the words "I'm always with you, sis... *even when we're worlds apart."* I think that her "airship moment" was when she rode in on the custom Jinx battle airship which she bombarded Ambessa's forces with earlier in the episode; thus, merging Powder's dream as a child with Jinx's highest creative (or at least, protective as opposed to destructive) aspirations as an adult.

2025-01-07 05:15:49 +0000 UTCI need Ekko's 4 second time travel device so I can go back to when I still thought Heimerdinger was alive 😭

2025-01-07 04:52:19 +0000 UTCI think that sadly Heimerdinger vaporized himself in order to send Ekko back home. In Episode 7 when he, Ekko, and Powder were testing the Z-Drive (time manipulation device), we see that the energy frequency generated in order to reverse time by more than 4 seconds causes *specifically* Heimerdinger to explode. Notably we only see him explode, and his remains splattered on Ekko's clothing. If I'm remembering right, I think we even see signs of alternate-universe Powder reacting to evade the energy blast. When Ekko refuses to tell the others why he is so certain that the limit is 4 seconds (presumably not wanting to scar Heimerdinger with that gruesome image), which I'm not completely sure that Heim buys, he then leaves to go to the dance with Powder, during which time Heimerdinger says that he will tinker with the device a bit more in order to give it "a boost." I'm not sure if he a) realized that this would certainly happen and intentionally gave his life to send Ekko back to their home dimension, entrusting Ekko with his hopes for humanity; or b) calculated that it was a possibility, but something with the time machine went awry such as a gear flying off which prompted Heimerdinger to step outside of the warp radius to make sure it fired correctly, simply deciding that the risk of exploding in the process rather than being sent back himself was worth making sure he was at least able to send Ekko back. In either case though I think that the energy required to send Ekko to an alternate dimension exponentially exceeded the energy required to go back in time >4 seconds, and so Heimerdinger was vaporized entirely. Either because the energy frequency that the machine generates affects specifically Heimerdinger, or simply because Powder is far enough out of range, Powder is unaffected by the blast. On the plus side, Jinx, as she so prides herself in having reinvented herself as in our present timeline, does get to ride in an airship — she's just made it her own! Instead of riding in on one of those fancy Piltover trading airships as she perhaps originally intended, she rides in on her personal, custom-made, kitted-out, battle airship and bombards the Council Square with chaos in order to help save Piltover, Zaun, and the world itself. She gets to simultaneously fulfill Powder's childhood dream of riding an airship, and do her quintessentially chaotic Jinx thing (see the "Get Jinxed" music video on YouTube), all while doing so in service of preserving rather than destroying something.

2025-01-07 04:46:42 +0000 UTCArcane is done with S2 but its confirmed there are multiple shows in the works within the same universe, with one being centered around Noxus (The Nation Mel/Ambessa are from) so there is likely to be character overlap/cameos. Like the other comment pointed out there are many reasons Powder is implied to be alive stemming from the show, or voice actor/producer quotes, and even the offical artbook they released. By now there is more evidence she's alive then actually dead from all the media thats come out after the show lmao.

2025-01-07 04:43:42 +0000 UTCIt's pretty strongly implied Powder IS on that airship. Caitlyn was looking at the schematics of the hexgate building while holding a jinx bomb fragment, seemingly considering the possibility of her having gotten out. There's no other reason to show that airship at the end if not to fulfill Powder's wish in Episode 1.
