Also, Mayuri's statement "I became a hostage myself". I hadn't thought about it until I wrote my other comment earlier about Okabe perhaps feeling the need to play the crazy persona for others... but perhaps Mayuri becoming a volunteer hostage is because she thinks Okabe needs her, in some way? Apart from the food supplies, obviously. I hope we get some more into the childhood friendship down the line.

Although I don't know why Daru would need that, Mayuri does look vulnerable? sensitive? delicate? enough that he may feel he needs to play the clown for her. The problem with having a unique MacGuffin that will be used to create a utopia: You have to do most of the things yourself, making you a tyrant in the process. Also, you will probably be strict to dissenters. It'll be a utopia to you, but probably a dystopia for everyone else who doesn't share your morals and interests. "But I'm different. I will not be corrupted by the power. I will be a benevolent ruler." I like how intense (and how much it stands out from the rest of the series) Suzuha is when she saw Kurisu. And I think she's even drawn with some more detail than usual.
