GG vs Oxob Progress + Major Stream Updates

Heya Patrons!

This post will cover what Gildedguy has been up to lately.

Animation Progress

We are 62% through the intro, with about 1 minute of finished animation. I intend to post a Patron-only preview of the intro in the upcoming weeks. The preview will acquaint us to the titular characters, their pasts, and what incites their inevitable duel.

In terms of overall progress, we are only 6% through the estimated work load. Unfortunately, this puts us behind schedule, but we will be ramping up productivity with the help of the following artists!

Contributors

Thanks to the support of the patrons, I can now pay for some of the cleanup and inking to be done by assistants. Right now, I have contracted help from Irascor and Soapy, with possibly more help on the way. We're experimenting with a new way of rendering our line art in hopes of reducing workload.

I am currently working with PowerMeep again to deliver another original score for the intro. I'm confident his music will help set the tone for this dark, pulsing animation.

Speaking of music, the feature song for this animation is "Alien Victory". The EDM artist behind the track, Starcadian, has graciously allowed me to use it for this project. This is especially exciting, and I hope to do his track justice.

Lastly, KeroKrow is being commissioned to produce some pretty assets for promo-materials. There'll be more info on that as we approach release.

Visual Updates to Stream

As many of you know, the Twitch stream has kind of become the go-to hang out spot for daily Gildedguy interaction. A lot of effort has been invested into making it cozy and customized to viewers.

Giveaway + Mini-game Integration

I've committed the past couple days to freshening up the Twitch stream. I've fixed several bugs involving Song Requests by switching to Moobot, and made small visual updates to the follower and giveaway features.

The biggest update this year to the stream has been the Giveaway feature, allowing me to raffle away merch and prizes in a totally green-eyed style. And although it has been complete for awhile now, it was actually missing a major component.

Today, I've finally completed version 1.0 the Mini-game feature, which adds an unprecedented layer of interactivity to the Gildedguy stream. With mini-games, viewers may now cooperate and compete with each other to earn even better prizes on stream. Really, I have a box of random trinkets that I want to give away. Buttons, pins, and even coconut coasters.

Think of it as a small game of Mario Party to break up the tediousness involved in long art streams. I wanted to make sure the games were open and easily accessible. No complicated controls or rules. Just type things into chat.

The first (and as of yet, only) mini-game is "Red-Drake/Green-Drake". I hope to play Version 1.0 with you in the streams to come. The visuals are not polished yet, but the inner guts n' mechanics are solid!

I'm super happy about the mini-game feature because it lends itself to COUNTLESS POSSIBILITIES for interactive games. And game design is my 2nd passion, behind animation.

Balancing Act

I am in the middle of a residential move (again). This one is pretty major though, so I am pretty sure I'll be staying put this time. Also, I'll finally be out of these cold basements!

But because it's a big move, there will be disruptions to Gildedguy's work for several weeks. As a result, I foresee many lifestyle changes. Thankfully, I'll still have the animation to work on to keep me grounded.

Thank you for checking in on this update.
