Bonus Episode: Jordan Peterson vs. Twitter

Mike has updates for Aubrey on Jordan Peterson, who has been working overtime to be a colossal jerk. Again! This time, he's peddling COVID misinformation and taking aim at fat people and trans people. WHAT A CHILL DUDE.

You can play the episode directly through Patreon or use our RSS feed to add it to your podcast app. Here are the instructions from Patreon. And as ever, if you've got future bonus episodes you'd like to see, drop those in the comments here.

See you next month!

UPDATE: In the original version of this episode we confused Remdesivir with Paxlovid. Many of you pointed out the error so we removed the line. We really appreciate you letting us know!

As an Ace cis woman who tried to force myself to date straight guys for many years, Jordan Peterson's anger feels very familiar. If you're already trained to think of female bodies as possession in service of your pleasure, any disruption to that expectation is treated as an affront. Viewing female (or assumed/expected to be female) bodies that don't "serve that function" draws out a reaction - like drinking soap when you thought you were served water. It's not all straight people, but the straight people who have biases but are still able to see others as humans tend to assume these dehumanizing are not that different from themselves, and so "we shouldn't be so hard on them." And then you add on the intersections of everything - it's so terrible.

This one didn't make it onto the paid Spotify feed, will that continue to be updated?

Small addendum about how shitty it is to go around telling fat people they are going to die: my dad has always been fat and he used to be a smoker. Courtesy of everyone "helpfully" commenting on his mortality, I had recurring nightmares about my dad dying for OVER A YEAR (around age 11-12). Fuck everyone who says stuff like this and fuck them twice for being such an unfeeling POS to say it in front of their children.

Jeanette-o-saur

I was thinking this too!

Listening back to this and I canโ€™t help thinking that JP actually did find the swimsuit model hot and couldnโ€™t handle it. Itโ€™s like homophones where the lady doth protest too much. Anyway, thanks as always for your service.

A whole FLOCK of canaries, swarming the news offices, if you will?

Cricket

nobody wants Jordan Peterson's boner. Truer words never spoken.

Maryanne Dihayco

And now his Twitter account was reinstated. Together with Trumps. No words.

Where is the menopause supplement episode!! I am in the hot, fat lady menopause camp...

Wouldn't it be amazing if he just fucking died?

cr0nes

SO true I keep getting ads and I scream every time

Hey! I'll have you know I'm a hot, fat lady. (thank you menopause...)

Deanna

oooh yes--i saw that far more recently (unless you were in high school a year ago lol) and felt very "fuck yeah!" about the good points he raised about governments destroying indigenous food systems and then being like "why aren't you healthy after we ruined your lives?" but there is also so much Super Size Me-esque stuff in it.

It was also a little gag in the film Airplane! There is a montage of TV snippets talking about the imperiled plane and among them is a Point / Counterpoint: "Shayn-a! They bought their tickets; they knew what they were getting into, I say, 'Let 'em crash!'"

Susan M

ok. Her name is Shayne-a, not Shawn-a. Here is a link to a point-counterpoint - the show that the SNL parody is of: https://youtu.be/cESACuuh6kM/ .I am loving the Scarsdaleepisode, but since I was alive and watching 60 minutes then, the Shawn-a was freaking me out.

Friends! Late to the party but listening to the Scarsdale Diet Murder episode and I realized I know a novelty song about dieting from the 90s that references the murder. I've been singing it since I was a kid without knowing what the song was talking about. It's "Cold Pizza for Breakfast" by Christine Lavin, and the bridge goes: "Herman Tarnower would never approve I can hear him (I can hear him - I can hear him) Spinning in his grave He could be alive eating pizza right now Except for when it came to dating women The good doctor did not know how to behave ya ya ya Herman was healthy But Herman is dead (Pizza surely didn't do him in) A Pizza surely didn't do him in (Pizza surely didn't do him in) Jean Harris is behind bars Lookin' quite sad And think, do you see what I'm gettin' at You tend to kill when you're skinny But not when you're fat"

I just want to say Worm Wars was fascinating ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿชฑ๐Ÿชฑ๐Ÿชฑ

Loved the new episode (and all the episodes) I'd love to hear your take on That Sugar Film - which I watched when I was in highschool and which created some troubling beliefs and nasty restrictions...

(respectfully)
