Hello, Classmates.

Back in 2018 when we were preparing to release DEIMOS: TALES OF THE TARO DEMON #3, we called on super-talented artist MICHAEL BRODERICK to illustrate the cover for us.

We knew we wanted a very visually distinct and strikingly thematic cover image. We also knew that Michael could deliver all of that, AND MORE. The end result was one of our most memorable covers, not just of the TARO DEMON series, but of our entire catalogue of published works.

We're very pleased to bring you a look behind the scenes at the creation of this gorgeous cover. This post includes Michael's earliest concept sketches, along with several WIPS, as well as the final cover art. You'll also find a detailed message from Patrick with directional notes for Michael. Outside of Patrick and Michael Broderick, no one else has ever seen this until now.

So much goes into the creation of a comicbook, from the script, to that very first panel, then eventually to the cover imagery. It's a fascinating thing to journey back in time and see how this particular cover came to be.

PS -- Michael Broderick is a fantastic artist who has illustrated a number of STRIPSHOW episodes (most notably the Halloween episodes) and a few covers for us over the years. He's also the writer/artist/creator of the anthology comic SCARED STIFF #1, and he's collaborated with DALE LAZAROV on a number of STICKY GRAPHIC NOVELS.
