[EN]SHOWTIMExMONSTERS 2 Dev Letter [vol.46]

Hello, I'm Satoh.

This summer has been hotter than ever, with temperatures exceeding 40°C in many places in Japan.

The cicadas are singing loudly, reminding me that summer is in full swing.

I am working on my daily production work while taking care of my health so that I do not suffer from summer fatigue.

I am continuing to ask testers to continue test play, and am patiently making adjustments and corrections based on their feedback.

I am also gradually working on creating files for the demo version, images for the sales page, and other small items.

Translation into English and Chinese has also been completed with the help of the translators, and they are proofreading the translated versions at the same time.


The goal has been to release the game in multiple languages at the same time.

Unlike L2D and art books, the amount of text contained in an RPG is enormous and requires a long-term plan to have it translated.

Therefore, I asked the programmer to design a system that would allow the translation to begin at the development stage,

and the translators started working on the translation more than a year and a half ago.

With the help of many people, I am very happy to be able to release the game in a form that can be enjoyed by as many players as possible.


It will still take a little more time for test play, adjustments, and to fill in the remaining elements,

but I will do my best to make it as good as possible, so that you can enjoy it in a well-finished and polished state.


In this letter, I would like to introduce two new monsters.

This is one of the new monsters, Prince a la mode.

As the name suggests, he is a pudding monster, based on a retro Japanese dessert called pudding a la mode.

I tried to create a design that is gorgeous, yet somehow nostalgic.



Here is another new monster, Spice Orc.

He is an Orc who specializes in spice cooking and always carries a lot of spices with him.

He is a healer-type monster that can give allies a variety of enhanced effects.



As for the group picture that I introduced in the last letter, I felt it was a pity that the former game's protagonist was not in the picture, so I decided to add him to it after all.

I think it turned out to be a good picture, with all the members exactly together.

This time, with sincere gratitude for you, supporters,

I drew a "Extreme Heat Dangerous Special"-themed special illustration for you.



From the Jammer monsters, here is Scorpion.

This monster appeared in the fire dungeon in the former game and looks a bit evil, like a scorpion with poison.


As described in the monster dictionary, despite his appearance, he has a reserved personality, and is not good at taking the initiative.

Therefore, his main means of attack is to chase after his allies.

It is an interesting aspect of the game that each monster's personality can be expressed in the way it fights and in the performance of its skills.

It pains me that I have kept you waiting so long, but I would like to spend a little more time on test play, adjustments, and fixes.

Thank you! The ones I particularly like are the linkages and skill trees. The feeling of adventuring and fighting together with your chosen partner is something unique to 2 that was not present in 1.
