[EN]SHOWTIMExMONSTERS 2 Dev Letter [vol.31]

Hello, I'm Satoh.

Spring is in full swing and the leaves are green and lush.

It is getting warmer and warmer, and I feel summer is gradually approaching.

I continue to create every day while savoring the spring weather.

After finishing the playtesting up to the 4th stratum, I was working on the status and behavior settings of the 5th stratum monsters as enemies.

This was a little bit of a challenge because symbol monsters and boss battles have special behavior patterns

and mechanisms, so I had to create a different process for them than for normal monsters.

I worked hard on each boss battle, trying to create a heated battle and to give each monster a sense of their own personality.

It was also difficult to find the right balance between not too strong and not too weak.


In addition, I have recently spent some time reviewing the skill sets and strengths of the monsters from the previous game.

I've adjusted the strength of quite a few of the monsters in the several updates I did on the previous game,

and I have also added new skills to some of the monsters that were a little lacking this time around.

Of course, I have also prepared potential skills for the new buddy system for all monsters,

so I hope that players will be able to take along not only the new monsters, but also those from the previous game with them with a fresh perspective.

(The buddy system was introduced in Development Letter Vol.11)


In this letter, I would like to introduce two new monsters.

This is Mizuchi, one of the new monsters.

He is a water snake yokai with a transparent costume that resembles the scales of a snake.



Here is another one of the new monsters, Leizhenzi.

Leizhenzi is a hermit from Chinese mythology. I designed it to look like a bird man flying around on wings of thunder.

This time, with sincere gratitude for you, supporters,

I drew a "Green Scented Breeze Special"-themed special illustration for you.



From Japanese Monster, this is Pinwheel.

He is the perfect monster for the spring breeze, clad in a face of grass and leaves.


Pinwheel is a monster whose soul inhabited an abandoned pinwheel,

and like Spirit Prankster, it was designed in the early stages of the fourth layer.

It is an unusual and slightly challenging design, as most of the monsters face the front, but its face and body are turned sideways.

I like it because I was able to give it a soft, breezy atmosphere.

It is difficult to see in the game because of the details, but there is a windmill pattern on the kimono.
