[EN]SHOWTIMExMONSTERS 2 Dev Letter [vol.17]

Hello, I'm Satoh.

Thank you very much for your support.

Spring is approaching, and little by little, the days are getting warmer.

As the seasons change, I am taking more care of my health so that I don't get sick and continue to create.

Recently, I've been working intensively on the skill sets for the third stratum monsters as well as illustrating the event scenes.

Thinking about the skill set of monsters is a fun yet difficult task.

It is also a very nerve-wracking process because it directly affects the characterization and the fun of the game.


In order to make each of the nearly 200 monsters that will eventually appear in the game unique,

I needed a game structure that would allow the skills themselves to have a wide range of features,

so I asked the programmer to add functions that would allow me to create skills with more different mechanisms than in the first game.

It has allowed me to create a skill set that is more in line with what I envisioned.


I'm constantly thinking about how to express each monster's character to the best of my ability.


In this letter, I'll introduce you two new monsters.

This is one of the new monsters, Ice Soda.

He is designed to look like an ice candy monster, and can create freely shaped ice sodas on his hands and feet.

He is an attacker who fights with his body techniques while gliding lightly on ice skates.



This is another one of the new monsters, Mech Burner.

And it's one of the new species from SxM 2, mecha monsters.

It's an android with a flamethrower motif that can attack with flames from all over its body.

This time, with sincere gratitude for you, supporters,

I drew a "Spring Breeze"-themed special illustration for you.



This is Kamaitachi, a Japanese style monster.

The large sickle sticking out of his tail is impressive.

I tried to draw him in a fresh and mischievous spring atmosphere.


Kamaitachi is an ancient Japanese yokai, and people in the past thought that cuts made by gusts of wind were the work of yokai.

The design of the weasel holding a sickle in both arms is common.

SxM's Kamaitachi has a more aggressive design with a huge sickle on its tail in addition to the sickles on both arms.

When not in use, the sickle is tucked away in the tail.

The third stratum continues to accumulate little by little and is nearing completion.

I will continue to work hard to keep up this pace of production.

I'm really looking forward to see what new mechanics you put in and how those will change the gameplay options. 1 had such interesting gameplay already, I'm really curious! Your artwork is great as usual. Kamaitachi is among my favorites, so thank you for drawing him. :)
