Navigating Rejection Sensitivity

This week's (free) newsletter deals with rejection sensitivity.

(FREE newsletter? WHERE DO I GET ONE? Glad you asked! You can sign up here: https://how-to-adhd.kit.com/)

What is rejection sensitivity? It's defined as the tendency to anxiously expect, readily perceive, and intensely react to rejection.

And it hurts. Often times we need tools and support that help us to navigate rejection.

Although we cover some strategies in our newsletter and video on the topic, we know that there are likely many more strategies out there. And what better way to help those struggling in our community than to ask those in our community that have found strategies to help them navigate feelings of rejection?

So comment below with any "rules" you follow that help you without fully self-isolating! When do you choose to disengage so you can get back into the emotional "green" zone? And what helps you do that?

(Not sure what we mean by emotional "green" zone? No problem, check out this video for an explanation: https://youtu.be/jM3azhiOy5E)

I experience a lot of RS in my dating life. Living under the double rainbow helps me better know what I’m (not) looking for, but it always sucks when someone isn’t accepting of any of my identity labels. For me, I have to be very intentional about my boundaries around energy. If someone isn’t matching my energy, even if they are new-hyperfixation-material, I have to find other people to put my energy into, which usually means friends. I say other people, because putting energy into things can work for some folks, but I’ll more likely spiral back to thinking about them if I can’t get out of my head. Friends and therapists are best at that for me.

Maybe it stems from all those negative responses ND brains receive while learning to human 🤔

It's amazing that this is tied to ADHD. I don't even understand the details but the concept of "Rejection Sensitivity" seemingly defines my whole life. Yet somehow I ended up in sales but struggle with it daily. I'm fascinated to learn more.
