Hello!
Quick note: I'm a big dumb and managed to lose a fight with a mandolin, so please forgive the sloppy WIP image, hard to use a pen with my thumb all bandaged up lol
Ok, now the reason for this post! I'm looking to get some feedback on a rather ambitious map/idea.
The basic idea is that players start in a forest and enter into a cave. Inside the cave is another entrance to a strange looking room with 3 entrances and a podium that is missing 3 pieces.
Players have to enter each of the rooms where they will see a pedestal upon which lies a piece they need to place on the main podium.
Each pedestal has a pressure plate or perhaps magic rune the player must stand on to be able to take the piece. Once the player does this the room changes to reveal the themed trap that the player has to deal with to get back out.
Each room would be themed based one which piece is in there: Water, fire, earth etc.
Water room: Once the player has taken the piece the room immediately fills with water and the player is surrounded by an air bubble. The air bubble is centered on the pedestal and does not move with the player.
More air bubbles randomly appear and disappear based on the whims of the GM (I will provide air bubble png assets for this purpose). The player has to get from one to the next before they collapse and make their escape.
Fire room: Once the player takes the piece the room floor fills with lava and continues to rise, the player must jump from platform to platform as the lava covers them to reach the exit.
Feeling like this one might be a bit too generic so open to ideas here.
Earth/other room (???): Don't have a real idea for this one yet, placeholder idea is that the ground falls away after the piece is taken and the player has to jump on the platforms or fall into the pit. Very open to ideas here, doesn't have to be earth related.
Once all pieces have been placed on the podium a portal transports the party to the Portal Hub, a fantastical place that has multiple portals going to wherever the GM wants them to go.
All map parts will be separate so you can use them with other maps and scenarios. Please let me know what you think!
