Weekly Design Corner

A weekly discussion regarding the development of the game. A new thing I'll be trying for a while to see you if you and I both like it. It will feature updates and discussions regarding the design of the game itself. For Benefactors and Above

First, let's discuss Jessica Rabbit

I'm currently adding the mechanics and features that are necessary for her. When she won the vote, I got started on her right away - I was excited about the results because Jessica Rabbit is the first cartoon character that made me go "oh shit"......

Needless to say, I want her section to be amazing. So far, her story will have a Noir theme where you are dragged in to help her with a task that involves you gathering evidence and meeting some shady characters. 

The Visual Novel game mechanics that I added for Dexter's Mom in version 0.2.00 was one of many mechanics that need to be added before her section can be fully realized. 

The biggest challenge is going to be adding a Downtown environment. I tried adding her to the neighborhood, and she just doesn't fit. 

That was my fault. Perhaps I shouldn't have allowed her to be on a poll for you to vote for her, but honestly I'm so  excited about working on all the characters that are going to be in, that it went unnoticed. Same with Maddie Fenton, April Oneil, and any other character that is better in a "city" context. 

Long story short, I'm still working hard and fast to get her in as soon as possible. However, don't be surprised if you see other characters that fit the "neighborhood" theme better pop in before her.

Now, on to the discussion - I would REALLY love your feedback on this...

What would you like to see from Edgeville that would make it your #1 Go-To NSFW Game?

The results of the last two polls (regarding the "style" of the Edgeville characters, as well as the First Person vs Third Person Modes) were both VERY one-sided. This is great news to me. 

This means that I'm moving things in the right direction and its not causing a major rift or controversy in the design decisions. 

However, I still want to make sure I'm giving you guys plenty of opportunities to give me your ideas and feedback. 

It would probably be unrealistic for me to ask what would make it a game you come back to - so at least let me ask what would make it a game where you say "wow that was one of the best NSFW games I've ever played?"

This could be ANYTHING. If it helps, let me know what did you first think Edgeville was going to be about when you first heard of it? 

Did you think GTAV, but with cartoon characters? Did you think Summertime Saga? A visual novel experience that allowed you to move around the map? 

Or were you hoping for a specific game mechanic? Driving around?

Just like summertime saga, player control of animation speed on unlocked events/scenes. It might be too much to ask, but maybe 2-3 body positions of the characters in scene for the player’s choice

For me I thought it was going to play like summertime saga, an overarching story and progression with the individual characters as well.
