Month End Post: January 2025 Wrap-Up

January 31st ALREADY? 😳Whether you can believe it or not, we’re here to say… 🗣 Welcome to the first End of Month Update for 2025! 🎉In this edition, we’ll be covering script, programming, and art progress, as well as events that took place this month. GB has started the new year off with hard work (as usual), and we’ve got some exciting surprises to share with you all!

Monthly Content Summary:

General Updates-

First, our daily posts changed a bit this month: January was the first time we went without daily word count updates from GB. These posts were pulled back in order to help GB focus more of her time on game progress. They were replaced with Mid-Month Updates, which are posted by me (Claire) on our socials. 

Second, the GB Patch 2025 Winter Contest was announced! I was so, so excited to tell everyone about this. TLDR: We are hosting a fan-creation contest where folks can submit any medium they’d like that fits the theme: “Where are your MC and Cove now?” We’ve got prizes and publicity to award for our winners! Finally, a note on our Instagram account. 

In early January, we made the decision to re-join Instagram in anticipation of the TikTok ban. We wanted somewhere new to share our videos and felt Reels was an appropriate platform to transition to. Recently, Meta announced rollbacks on their equity policies and protections for both users of their platforms and their employees. Our studio was built on support for and from the LGBTQ+ community. We wholeheartedly denounce any policy that may cause harm to marginalized communities. 

For this reason, we have made the decision to close our Instagram account. We know that members of the community were excited to have a new place for GB and Our Life content – we were too. But, we stand firm in our belief that people should be protected over any potential profit. We will continue video content on TikTok and started YouTube Shorts this week. Thank you for your understanding! 

Game Progress-

What’s new with development this month? The script for the Moment “Assistance” should be totally wrapped up, although this means that other scripts and drafts have taken a back seat so GB can focus on finalizing this one. Most of this month was spent drafting “Homecoming”, actually – “Assistance” was able to be wrapped up so quickly because it was started last month.

Part 1 of “Colorful Class” was completely programmed and released as a Patreon beta! We hope you’re enjoying our latest release and so look forward to hearing what you have to say about it. 

There have been a ton of extra outfits and accessories completed this month – mostly for Step 2 sprites, as well as a few new backgrounds for Step 1 scenes.

That’s a wrap for January! As an aside, we know that this month has been a turbulent and scary time for many, but know that we are thinking of each of you, and hope that our games can be a moment of peace in an otherwise chaotic time. Be well, take care of each other, but as always – take care of yourself however you can.
