Dating app [prologue]

I recently finished a relationship of five years with my now toxic ex-girlfriend, I suffered enough already and I need to be able to walk greener paths and enjoy my single life, she took advantage of me in many ways and whenever she had time to spare, she decided to spend it humiliating me for my foot fetish, she made me feel like if I was not enough for this world and a complete freak of nature, but I won’t let her years of torment pull me down, I know I’m enough and honestly too much for her sorry ass, she never deserved someone as loving and caring like me.

Anyways i downloaded a new trendy dating app that supposedly allows you to make the best matches according to your selected preferences, so I created a new profile and put on my personal info without hesitation. In hobbies I added my love for video games (a wide range of game genres to be frank; horror, rhythm, puzzle, RTS, RPG, hack & slash, adventure, board, fighting, FPS, Xgames and racing games), sports (anything but soccer), cycling, Art (I’m something of an artist myself) and photography.

I had to add a small presentation too.

It’s a bit embarrassing to say that out loud but I don’t want to start a new relationship based on lies, those are literally my kinks, so If girls like it or not, then there’s nothing I can do.

Okay that would be the last part, so I uploaded a few pictures of me and I uploaded my profile, so I just gotta wait until someone likes my profile. While I waited for that to happen I decided to get to know the application better, I saw a few profiles and gave a few likes when I saw someone interesting, but neither of those ended up on a match. After a while i realized it was already five PM so I put the phone down to get a few things done at my place, I tidied the living room and I threw the last remaining stuff that made me remember my toxic relationship, not even five minutes later I get a notification and I decided to look at the phone, it was from the dating app, I clicked on the notification and saw that someone gave a like to my profile, I looked at her profile and she was actually pretty cute, I gave her a like back and we got a match, thus unlocking the chat room, she was the first one to talk and she was actually quite direct. I suddenly remembered how long I’ve been out of the dating game so I got nervous.

Ashley: hey, my name is Ashley and I found your profile pretty interesting, it’s a boomer you had to go through that toxic relationship, but thankfully you’re now out of it and you’re able to finally pick up your pieces and go on with your life.

Kyle: Hello, I’m Kyle and thank you a lot for those kind words.

Ashley: No prob cutie~.

Kyle: Hehe! I did find you profile pretty interesting too.

Ashley: So… anyways, are you busy tonight?? ;).

It took me a whole second to answer, she went straight to the point, but I’m not scared, just surprised.

Kyle: yeah, I’m free.

Ashley: I thought I almost lost you there hehe~.

Ashley: Sorry if was too straight forward for you, I hope I didn’t scare ya’.

Magic Roots (prologue)

Today i received a letter and a small package from the postal office, the letter came from my grandfather, a crazy old man that i barely heard off, because my mother hated him, she always blamed him for the disapparition of my grandmother. he was convicted after a short investigation where they couldn't find anything so as the primary suspect they sentenced him to pass the rest of his life in prison, mom never left us see him and my father never opposed to her decision.

When my grandmother disappeared she was only 22 years old, so she was pretty young when they lost track of her.

Besides my grandfather there was another thing mom never let me see or speak about, this thing being "magic". But still i did learn about it behind my mother's back thanks to the internet.

When i got this letter i was already eighteen years old so even though i was living with my parents i had my own life separated from them, i had my own job a not so stable relationship and i paid all of my expenses. I signed the Postman's chart and went to my room to read the letter from my grandfather.


Dear jasper:

If you're reading this letter, it means I've died after being sentenced to rot in jail for a crime i never committed, i always knew where your grandmother is... i mean was, but even if i told them they never believed me, not even your mother believed in me. I'll be brief i'm a magician and there's a 95% probability that you are one too, i don't mean fake ass illusions with mirrors and props, i mean real magic like the one you've probably already researched, is in your genes so you were meant to find about it even if your mother was against it.

As i said before i knew where your grandma was, she was alive but by now she must be really dead thanks to those assholes that never believed in what I said. I was practicing an act of magic with my wife, that had already been going on for over a week but the day the act was supposed to end i got taken by the authorities and i was never able to finish the act. The only thing I'm thankful about though is that your grandmother died i a peaceful way and she never knew what happened to her. Even though she's already dead there one little hypothesis that i have that i need you to prove for me, inside the package there's a key to a storage unit i owned it now belongs to you so i will need you to take a large sports bag with you and don't tell your mother where you're going.

Ps: be careful you might find some bones, but if what i believe is right you might find something else besides that, that's what the sports bag is for, please take care of her.

Well, anyways I'll have to go to that storage unit and see what is going own with my own eyes, maybe I'll find something worth selling.
I reached the place my grandfather told me about using my car, i opened the lock and i found a lot of dusty props for a magic show, this might really cost a fortune if i sell it to a collectionist, this storage had it all, but something called my attention in that moment, a pair of two boxes standing in the middle of the room, separated only by a few inches, at the end of one of the boxes I could see a pair of closed sandals sticking out, maybe from one of the mannequins to perform a cut in half illusion, i went closer to inspect the boxes and the legs looked pretty realistic. But the top half of the box was covered in a white sheet, i gently moved the fabric from the top of the box and i uncovered a human skull covered by it... i think i found grandma...
I sat on the floor for a few minutes processing the whole scene.

So this is what my grandfather meant by knowing where she was. I covered the remains again and then i went to the lower half of the box to cover it too but this part of the box didn't seem to contain bones, the legs looked to be still complete somehow. I took the cover of the box and revealed a well toned pair of legs only wearing the lower part of a two piece bikini and the sandals that were sticking out of the box, they looked pretty realistic if you ask me, i touched them and the legs squirmed when I touched them. I asked myself, how whas this possible? I went to the feet of the legs and took their sandals off, a pair of pinkish soles greeted me, i touched the foot and it was still warm to the touch, i ran a finger on the soles and once again the legs squirmed and this time also wiggled their toes. Nothing made sense to me anymore, if this is grandma's legs, how were they preserved in this pristine condition? My curiosity got the best of me and i got my face closer to the soles, i took a whiff and shockingly they didn't smell bad, they smelled like if lotion was applied to them recently, the toes pressed my nose with a gentle but firm grip and i instinctively licked their sole.
W-wait what I'm doing!? I snapped out of it and moved away from grandma's legs.

I grabbed the sports bag and got the legs gently inside of it, as i moved some stuff i accidentally pushed a table causing a stick that looked like a wand and a diary to fall inside the bag, i paid no mind at the moment and just left. Making sure the storage was closed properly.
