"Padre Got An Uzi" - Game Prototype

I've been working on a retro-style, John-Carpenter-inspired shoot-em-up and it's ready for a bit of broader playtesting. Thought you fine folk might like to take a crack at it!

It's the first 10 levels of what will be a 30 level game.
Runs on windows only. Just extract the folder from the zip file (attached to this post) and run it from there.
(You WILL get a security warning. DON'T run the exe unless you're sure I'm not out to install something nefarious on your machine.)

W/A/S/D for movement.
Mouse to aim.
Left Mouse Button to fire.
Right Mouse button to throw crucifix.

Feel free to give ANY kind of feedback. I'm particularly interested to hear what people DON'T like about the game, so really tear it to shreds!

RMB: yeet crucifix. That is just an absurdly hilarious context for me.

The angels raise the chance that enemies you SHOOT will drop a larger ammo stack. The more angels you collect, the higher the chance of large ammo drops. HOWEVER, the bonus only lasts for the duration of that run. If you die or quit, the bonus is lost. (This'll be detailed in the illustrated manual I'll be bundling with the game when it's done)

Quite a fun game! But I did have a question: While I've figured out the mechanics of the uzi (bang bang), the crucifix (guaranteed small ammo drops, and very good against fodder), and the thorn-wrapped corpses (keys in all but name), I can't figure out what the angels do. So far I've found 1-2 in each level but they don't seem to do anything. They're not giving ammo or improving damage, and I'm pretty sure they're not save points. Something that matters later on, beyond the levels I've reached?

I can try a few things out. The screen should scale to whatever size you drag your window to, though it'll revert when you reload.

Wow, that Loading screen really brought back memories. You really captured the feeling of the era. Game play was fun, though I didn't have time to get very far. Very reminicient of the Friday the 13th game (but more actiony). I like the option for Full Screen/Window mode, but the window was tiny on my screen. A request, if it's not too diffucult to Dev: Could the windowed resolution be changed? or maybe a 2x, 3x, 4x zoom factor?
