Hey everyone!! I'm very sorry for being so quiet this month. I thought that I'd have more time for drawing, but it turned out to be the exact opposite :( But I am gonna have some time in January to get back at it again ;)
Anyways, let's get right into it.

This is just to show how important composition is. This was the first sketch. This is the angle that the client wanted me to draw. I just felt that it wasn't dynamic enough, and I wanted more drama. A way of creating this is by working more diagonally, and avoiding a lot of vertical lines. Thankfully, the client was really chilled and allowed me to go with what I felt!!

I sent them this instead. I feel like it has a lot more drama to it and the composition is just soooo much better. Notice that there are almost no lines that are completely vertical or horizontal.

Here I did the final linework and basecolours. It was really important to me to make sure that the colour were working well together, so it took a bit of playing around to find the right brown and purple to work together.

Here I added some of the lighting and shadows. I have to do the background and subject simultaneously, otherwise the colours might clash later on.

Here I added the light reflecting off her skin from the lamp to the right.

Here's when it all really started coming together, as I more or less finished most of the lighting and shadows.
This is honestly one of my favorite pieces that I have worked on. I did an earlier piece for the same client, which I feel didn't turn out so well. So I reaally wanted to impress them this time.
