An Extraordinary Announcement!

Update: Obviously enough, this was an April's Fools post!

Hello everyone!

Emanuele here with an extremely important announcement to make: it's done!

After extended months of playtest, and having gathered a vast amount of feedback and comments, I am ready to bring Fabula Ultima to its ultimate iteration.

The following changes will be made:

• The core book will be split in three separated documents: the Player Guide, comprising the Introduction and Press Start materials (it's not like players need to know the game rules after all!), the Game Guide, containing the Game Rules and Game Master chapters, and finally a self-explanatory Bestiary book.
• The game will be cut down from its original 50 levels to a more manageable 20.
• There will be many new monsters added, no longer with a level but instead easily manageable through an innovative system called Combat Risk, which works on a scale from 1/8 to 30!
• The insufferably restrictive and codified conflict rules, which smothered roleplaying for too many playtesters, will be replaced with a fixed initiative system accompanied by a single and most important rule: do whatever you want in your turn, and the GM will tell you what happens or occasionally have you roll some dice!
• The confusing concept of High Roll, designed to quicken action resolution, will be replaced with separate rolls for hitting and for dealing damage or healing. Because we all love to roll more dice!
• The needlessly metagamey experience system will be transformed into a new and liberating form: just level up whenever the GM finds it appropriate!
• And finally, the most important change: the entire ruleset will be converted to be elegantly portable to the latest edition of the world's most famous role-playing game! As part of this, the current classes will be greatly expanded into specific archetypes with a more streamlined and standardized progression, carefully designed to recreate the heroic journey of growth that new and veteran players alike will find reassuringly familiar!

I am personally very thrilled by this new perspective, and can't wait to see what the future has to offer!
