In Japan, we have a custom of females giving males they like chocolate on the 14th of February.
Originally, it was a day where females gave chocolate to a male they like, but it is also common that females give male colleagues and bosses to show appreciation now.
White day was originally put forward for the purpose of sales by the confectionery industry as a campaign, too. But it has become normal now in Japan.
Return gifts that are more expensive than chocolate are expected, so it is a troublesome day for males as they have to decide what to give back.
