Personally I prefer the OV for this show. The English dub is good but the way they pronounce the names pains me π

2024-12-28 22:39:59 +0000 UTCOmg I had put in a complaint a few months back about the subtitles of Heaven official's Blessing and also pointing out to them that not having subtitles for the dub of shows in general wasn't good for people with hearing impairments and stuff so I'm glad they changed that! Only thing is that they still seem to be trash dndjdj

Both have their pros and cons (Crunchyroll's subtitles are just kinda trash sometimes), so I think whichever you want to watch it in is fine! EDIT 1: Hua Cheng is just like "I will desecrate these bodies, I stg"

The English VA for Hua Cheng also wrote the scripts and he's a huge fan of the books. See, most of the gods handle things differently because they don't much like hanging around in the Human Realm. Grab everyone, take them up to Heaven, interrogate them later - that's how they would act, as Fu Yao wants to do. Xie Lian has been wandering the Human Realm for a very long time, so he's in no hurry. Keep in mind that it's supposed to be very dark down in the Sinner's Pit. Xie Lian did not get to see Hua Cheng's "real" form during all that carrying around and flirting and fighting. When they move into the moonlight, he's back in "San Lang" form. All these soldiers are angry ghosts, so I don't think ending their un-lives should be considered evil. Brutal and efficient, maybe, but not evil. Hua Cheng is not evil - he's just dead and doesn't give a shit about anyone other than Xie Lian and whoever Xie Lian cares about.

But tbh so is the entire show, there's no exact right or wrong choice in any of the situations which makes it so interesting to follow along. Ps. I love both the english and the original so do whatever works best for you!
