Progress Report

Finished Vallen!!!

Or, should I say, finish the path where you have enough clues to figure out a few truths about our Red Guard. I... like it so much 😭 I decided to go with the version where you figure out the truth in the most narrative-appropriate moment because it inspired me the most. My hand was flying across the pages so quickly that I got a cramp xD

Today, I wrote a scene that's been on my mind for three years or so, and it was cathartic. Of course, this is the first draft, and it's very sloppy and rushed, without any finesse or subtlety, but the bones of the scene are there, as is the dialogue and the general mood, and it is done! Out of my head forever. I have one less ghost to haunt me.

In a way, it feels like losing a friend. In another, it feels like shedding a heavy shackle.

Dramatics aside, I'm so happy with how the Vallen meeting turned out!!!! I said how scared I was to tackle her because I hadn't written her in so long (Patreon scenarios aside). But once I wrote the first dialogue, Vallen snatched the pen from my hand and took over. I'll have to adjust the dialogue and some of her body language, but this is a great foundation.

I'm very curious about how she'll be received. I honestly don't know how I'd take her if I was a reader and didn't know her story and motivations. I'll have to wait and read yours when the update comes out!  

I don't know if I'll write the non-clue version of her meeting in the first draft. I should, but a big part of me wants to move on to Rafael.

Hmmmm...

I'll decide tomorrow. 😆

In any case, since we're on Wednesday and I want to try and go back to post these on Friday, the goal for the rest of the week is to either write a good chunk of the clueless Vallen version or start the first contact with Rafael.
