i'm literally obsessed with this song (though it did take a couple listens) and performance, every single one of them stands out so much, and if you're actually familiar with the girls and their personalities this actually feels way more them than their previous stuff (even though i loved that stuff too). and ur comments about how it would be received if it were in korean are so spot-on IMO 😭 i prefer the non clean version but the only thing that throws me off is i don't like the fact that i'm sitting in my house yelling tesla lmao even though i know it's a negative gnarly it feels weird ahaha (does that stop me from doing it though? no lmao)

The live stage does it for me, lol! They talk about their nails in the MV reaction and how they’re food themed, but you can’t really tell. There was one live stage where the close up of when they frame Yoonchae’s where you can see them and they’re craaazzzyyyy! They also talk about how the directors told them “go crazy” but then had to tell the girls to tone it back cuz they were going a little too wild. 😂 Btw, you’re absolutely right that Gnarly gives the same energy as 1800 Hot and Fun! I love that.

This! And then also their facial expressions when they say it. 😂

the girls called the song camp and fun so if that's the direction they aimed to take it i think that's how we as the audience should consume it! once i accepted it wasn't meant to be taken too seriously ive been able to enjoy it completely, even the lines that i thought were pretty cringe the first few listens dont throw me anymore lol

Chelsieee

they absolutely kill the performance every single time! i've actually been listening to both versions a lot (after not quite vibing with the lyrics ofc)

I think a lot of people didn’t really get the meaning of the word gnarly cause it can be both positive and negative, for example when they mention Tesla there’s an adlib in the back where they say ewhh so in that context it’s supposed to be negative and that makes the lyrics much better I think haha

In terms of the clean version for me I don't care about the swearing but I do like the replacement of the "bag of Takis" line. It's just the most awkward one for me. I actually wish there was a mixed version where they kept the swearing and just removed the brand placements 🤣. I've listened to this song way more than I thought. It's still not a playlist type song but from a marketing perspective it is kind of smart to have something divisive like this. What ended up happening is the song is unique so I'm very curious about different people's opinion of it and ended up watching a bunch of reactions which now has the song stuck in my head. Genius, especially in a year where my chief complaint about about new music has been that everybody is releasing songs that are good but forgettable. This at least hooks into my brain. Someone said Katseye performs like what they imagined the Pussycat Dolls would be like in 2025 and idk that just makes so much sense to me. You should definitely check out their MAMA stage from this past season.

i’ve been a fan since the first listen idk how to explain but it’s just so good 😭🩷 i’m glad they’re trying out new things as well, it’s working really well so far!

This is how I'm finding out there's a Daniela in the group. Same spelling and everything, that's fun! Yeah the song is definitely super fun, it's made me a fan lowkey

TOTALLY understood! lol, Elon been controversial smh. I think that those are all things to generate clicks good or bad but yeah that makes sense Bri!

I’m realizing it now but for me, I think I like the clean version not because of the lack of cussing but for the lack of product placement like Tesla (ngl bad decision to add them into a song knowing Elon is very controversial rn) and Takis, etc. It’s a good song after listening a few times, it’s grown on me but the brand mentions were just a bit too corny for me
