As we ramp up into the new year, development is accelerating into high gear.
Love interest introductions for Akshaya, Ren, Amie, and Tara, are complete, marking the halfway point for that section of the chapter.
Once these are complete, all that is left is a [redacted] scene and the teaser segue to the main game.
So far, we're enjoying the pace of world-building and story reveal, but as always, the devil is in the details.
So much of what's going on in the background seems trivial, and not worth talking about at length.
Little things like font selections, avatar styles, overlays, and all of the back-end bells and whistles that add production value to a Ren'Py game.
Fortunately, we know a lot of things now that we didn't when we started CS, so there will be only one version of the binary, rather than a Steam and Patreon version.
One reason why we've been tight-lipped on the plot for Firebreak is because the first chapter's pacing would would lose a lot of its impact if the player went in knowing what to expect. This is a bit of a calculated gamble on our part, because we also recognize that it's difficult to generate a ton of enthusiasm for a story concept played too close to the vest.
That said, by the end of the first chapter, the player WILL understand exactly what the story is about and we won't keep yanking the football away at the last second for the rest of the game. That doesn't mean there aren't additional twists planned, just that we aren't going full "The Sixth Sense."
For the next dev update I'll put some thought into sharing what can safely be revealed without diluting reader investment in the initial chapter itself. After all, who doesn't feel the urge shake the presents under the tree when nobody's looking?

You already know her, hopefully you're happy she's taking a more central role now in Firebreak!
The lovely Tara is back!
As some of you might have noticed, there was no dev update on Sunday. In order to avoid overworking our lovely devs and also to be able to give you HUGE numbers, we decided to rework the schedule and the dev update will only happen twice a month now! Still on Sundays ( -ish ).
See you soon!

Happy New Year from Stone Fox Studios!
Over the holidays, Kentyrr and I have been busy and made significant progress on Firebreak.
As the game's framework comes together, with a lot less overhead and back end kit-bashing than CS, I couldn't help but wonder if I shouldn't just migrate the existing CS build into it, and I've been working on that in parallel.
While I've been banging my head on that, Kent has been hard at work building art and we're well over the midway hump for the first chapter, thanks in no small part to the dedicated dev time over the holidays.
At the moment, we're focused on the introductory scenes for each of the love interests.
After each of these are completed, we'll be ready to send our MC (and by extension, you) off into the meat grinder, as it were. (Giggity!)
As the shape of things to come has solidified, we've added in some degree of MC personality customization that will give the player different strengths in resolving the challenges ahead.
The introductory chapter should feel at least a little like a homecoming as at least six characters from Chasing Sunsets will make appearances ranging from cameos to central roles.
For now, the render count hovers around 1100, music selection stands at 22, though a main menu theme still eludes me much to my frustration.
As the pieces begin to come together, the big picture is really beginning to come into focus.
It's a new year ripe for a new story, and we can't wait to share it!

Happy Holidays from Stone Fox Studios!
This represents my last work week of the year, and with no travel planned around Christmas, should give me a few uninterrupted weeks to get some real work done on the game itself.
That doesn't mean progress hasn't been made since last weekend. We're another 70+ images deeper into content, and significant progress has been made on the main menu and save/load screens.
Story development has brought us nearly to the inflection point of the initial chapter where things start to coalesce and the plot emerges from the shadows. Hopefully before the first day of 2026, Kent and I will be able to view the story so far in the game's presentation layer as it was meant to be seen.
With a healthy amount of dialogue banked to keep Kent's art machine busy, I will turn some dev cycles back into the CS update as well between now and January.
The next few scenes have a Lisa and Bianca focus, and I'm looking forward to making their behavior vary depending on imported variables from Chasing Sunsets.
All in all, while some are settling in for a long winter's nap, Stone Fox's content machine jumps into overdrive.
While we'll be busy, there will not be a dev update or character profile until after Christmas as we give our Community Manager time to relax with family.
Happy holidays from Kentyrr and Stoya! We thank you for supporting us through the year and look forward to delivering on that faith in 2026!

This week was a holiday week in the US, so Kent and I were a little less productive than usual, but that doesn't mean we didn't get another 100 renders done, select a few more audio tracks, and tighten up the presentation layer on the game some.
Kent and I also spent some time selecting assets, particularly for Firebreak's antagonists. We wanted to make sure we'd found the right feel for what we are trying to do without going down well worn design paths seen frequently in other work. We've got some solid ideas, and since they'll begin showing up in the next set of renders, we'll have a pretty good idea if they're gonna work for us or not.
Congratulations Bethor on your win with Saturday's Chasing Sunsets quiz. For those of you who missed it, this guy is a walking encyclopedia of Stone Fox esoteria. For anyone thinking he was just running a search on the script, some of the answers could only be found in the art and he was just as quick with those!
As a reward, he'll be receiving a custom Firebreak render of the girl of his choice. We have it on good authority it will be Mikaela.
Next week is a full dev week so we'll likely have more milestones to report next Sunday. As much of the world closes in on Christmas, we'll do our best not to let it slow us down!

It's already devlog time again!
Hopefully seeing updates from us twice a week feels like an improvement over our introverted approach to updates before.
As the year begins to wind down, we are beginning to see the chapter coming together.
Kent continues to churn out art at a prolific rate with nearly 700 renders complete.
Sound and music selection has also made small, but concrete steps in the right direction.
The flow of the initial chapter is feeling very good to me at the moment, and is doing a good job of peeling the story onion without giving away too much about what lies at the center.
General chapter progress aside, the last week has really focused on tool refinement, and even some education.
While we started with no experience in development, and we've certainly gained knowledge through the School of Hard Knocks, some things benefit from a more focused learning regimen, and as such I've been immersing myself in formalized Python training while using what little downtime I have to understanding model development.
Hopefully these skills will allow me to do some things I simply lacked the knowledge to do in Chasing Sunsets.
While development is moving forward full bore, this is also the time of year when family obligations compete for our attention, but as always we'll both do our best to not let that impact our tempo.
We're approaching a year into DAZ 2025, and the tool is still not functional enough for Kentyrr to create art on, even if I'm using it to render without issues. This means he's still running older GPU's until those shortfalls are addressed.
As winter approaches in the northern hemisphere, we at Stone Fox wish you truly blessed holidays. Early in the new year, we should be able to start forecasting a launch date for what we've been working on. We think it will have been worth the wait, and hope that when the time comes, you agree!
Stoya.
Hey guys, I'd like to apologize for my miscalculation and not taking EU people into account for the Quiz.
I'm pushing it one last time to next week end. In order to not mess much with the Dev Update, i'll upload a poll TOMORROW for you to vote. I'll offer 4 possibilities over the weekend ( 2 saturday and 2 sunday ) and go with the winner.
Once again, please accept my apologies for this.

Another week, more progress!
Sometimes it's the stuff under the hood that makes a world of difference. I've finally succeeded in updating my IDE (Integrated Development Environment) which interfaces my coding front end with a Git environment, ensuring revision control and a whole bunch of other benefits.
In addition to beginning the Firebreak codebase there, I've been migrating the Chasing Sunsets data into that environment as well, which should go a long way toward making fixes and corrections easily trackable, able to be rolled back. This is one of the things that I frequently wanted to work on during Chasing Sunsets that I just didn't feel like I could make time for. Now I feel like I cost myself more time by postponing it.
Kent has produced another 100 images or so since our last update, and the story is moving forward briskly. I've identified two additional musical composures that will be used in the game, and am working to finalize the presentation layer (which I'm calling FoxFrame) that will be the scaffolding Stone Fox games are built upon going forward, with an eye toward easy regionalization and Android compatibility.
The goal of the first chapter is really to introduce the player to what's going on, and what their role is in that, and to provide an (in most cases) brief introduction to the central characters.
To clarify, we're not aiming for a specific number of chapters given the number of LI's in the story, but I would like to see a similar development cycle to CS with approximately 10 large updates. That said, we won't limit ourselves to that if the story can't be adequately told within that framework.
Our Community Manager has been hard at work, planning teasers, content reveals, and putting together events, such as the upcoming Discord Quiz, coming next Sunday. He also doesn't let Kent and I forget our weekly dev updates and character cards. Keep an eye on the #Announcements channel to see the latest!
As the initial chapter takes shape, and the kinks are worked out of Chasing Sunsets in preparation for a less glitchy gaming experience, Kent and I want to thank each of our supporters from the bottom of our hearts.
"Do what you love, and never work another day in your life," goes the saying. I don't know if I agree with the second half of that statement, but we can't deny how much fun storytelling is, and having an audience looking forward to hearing that story keeps us both energized and humbled.

We're having a Quiz! It's all about Chasing Sunsets! No idea how many questions there will be, but we're working on it as we speak! Time for YOU to replay to brush up on your knowledge of the game!
The winner will get an exclusive FireBreak Custom Render made by Kentyrr! You'll get to pick ONE girl from the cast, and he will decide on the setting.
The Quiz will happen in 10 days, on Sunday. To find the exact time, please check out the Discord room named "The Magnificent Quiz Room"! I will use Hammertime, so the time that you will see will be set to your own time zone already!
This quiz is for supporters only, meaning you need to have a role on Discord to be able to participate. This post is free access so it gives you time to get a Patreon or SS sub, or to buy the game on Itch or Steam, each of those possibilities will give you a role and therefore access to the Game Room.
Show us what you got, and win that Render!

There it is, finally, what you've been waiting for!
It's been a pretty crazy month as our workflows tighten up and we are starting to see the first chapter beginning to come together (Giggity!)
In order to ensure Kent wasn't idle, I opted to get him started on a bunch of content so I can finish reworking the broken bits of Chasing Sunsets in the background, and that's something I've slowly but surely been making progress on.
As of today, we are approximately 500 images into the introductory chapter of Firebreak, and the base framework for the game is beginning to take shape.
Music selection is ongoing with several great pieces already selected. As always, the title track is the most challenging, because you never get a second chance to make a first impression.
Workflow issues linger with the transition into DAZ 2025. Nothing that's adding too many headaches, but things we have to work around all the same. One of the downsides is that it's harder to have the renders finish "when they're done," so we have to set static render settings. What this means is that most images take between 20-45m each as we set their iterations in batches designed to minimize graininess. This has the advantage of ensuring the output has a consistent quality, but it keeps the art cooking in the queue probably longer than strictly necessary for many images.
All in all the more things change, the more things stay the same. Kent and I have a development rhythm we've both become very tuned into, and the content is churning out at a pace very reminiscent of our previous work.
Our Community Manager has hit the ground running with and takes personal pleasure in ensuring Kent and I provide regular updates, as you'll see with the coming character profiles and other quizzes and sneak peeks.
Starting from scratch is always a weird mix of opportunity and risk, but attacking the same problems the second time around with the lessons learned from the first is always a huge advantage.
We're super excited to be working on a second project and I'm no less excited to be putting some extra love and polish into our last one.
We can't wait to show you all what we've been cooking up!

I'm taking over!!!
Ok, not really, don't worry, I'll just be taking over a lot of the contact points with you guys!
Hi, i'm the newly appointed CM for Stone Fox and it is now my job to ride Kentyrr and Stoya hard so that they don't forget about you for too long! Yes, they already regret their decision.
I've been making crazy demands and I think you'll be pretty happy with the results. We're gonna have a weekly dev update, for full honesty towards you guys (some weeks are great, some are slow, you'll be kept in the loop no matter what !) and on top of that I asked Kentyrr and Stoya for another surprise which will give us a second weekly meeting, it's that great?
Some other things are still being discussed, but there will possibly be quite a lot of movement for this end of 2025!
You can find me on the Stone Fox Discord server under the alias Stone Fox CM. Do not hesitate to reach out to me for any question, whether it's here, there, or anywhere else, and I will get back to you ASAP. If I don't have the answer, I'll relay it to the owners, but you will get an answer, for sure. Contacting me directly will allow Kentyrr and Stoya to focus on making their next masterpiece, so really, you can come to me with anything and we'll sort it out.
Let's start things off the right way : I'm preparing a quiz for you guys! Just a little game, for fun, but with a very nice prize! The winner will get a Unique Firebreak custom made by Kentyrr! You'll get to decide which girl is featured, and he will decide the rest. It will consist of a bunch of questions (how many? TBD, really.) and we'll make a special room just for it, where i'll post the rules.
It will happen on the 16th of November, and is for supporters only. Any tier on any platform will do, and it also applies to people who bought on Steam or Itch. Basically, if you have a role on Discord, you're up, kid! I will ping everyone in the new room with the date and time using Hammertime, so everyone knows which time it starts without a doubt.
And lastly, in my bio on Discord, you'll find a LinkTree, with all the links you need to find Stone Fox EVERYWHERE! You know the drill! Get in there and drop those follows, likes, comments, the whole package! (Yes, that's what she said.)
Until next time, I wish you all a great weekend!

** NOTE Apologies for the date typo in the post below. I've updated the date in the post to today, Oct 11. **
Just whispering a quick reminder that Stone Fox Studios will be hosting the post-release livestream tomorrow, Saturday October 11 at 5:00PM UTC (10:00AM PST) on our Discord server.
As always, Xor has kindly offered to MC, and we'll get through your questions about Chasing Sunsets as well as tackle as many burning questions about Firebreak as we can!
Development on the latter is already in full swing, and we have hundreds of game images rendered already, while I work on the new Ren'py framework for the title itself.
We have also added a third member to the team who has asked to remain anonymous who will act in the role of Community Manager.
Kentyrr and I recognized early on that neither of us really have a passion for the admin that goes along with game development, and as such we decided to bring in somebody who keeps a keen eye on all of our portals and feedback and makes sure it gets back to us, while simultaneously providing the support to the community it deserves.
Our Community Manager will maintain a presences on all of our socials and storefronts, and we hope this will go a long way toward ensuring our supporters feel more connected to what we're doing behind the scenes.
There's still time to add questions to the #questions-for-dev-streams channel on our Discord, so if you have items you'd like Kentyrr or I to address, drop them there!
As always, we will record the livestream and post it to our Youtube channel if you're unable to make it.
Hope to see you there!

NOTE [Edited to Update the Livestream Date to Oct 11 (Saturday) as I got the dates mixed up on the OP.]
As stated in the title, we'll host our next official livestream and AMA on Saturday Oct 11 at 5:00PM UTC. As always, Xor of Thunderline Studios has graciously offered to emcee for us, and we'll take both spontaneous questions from the chat as well as those frontloaded into our #questions-for-dev-streams channel in Discord.
As usual, the Livestream will be hosted in Discord, so if you want to pick Stoya or Kentyrr's brain on any VN topic at all, we hope to see you there. Also as usual, we will record the stream and post it in our Youtube channel for those who wish to get caught up offline.
Secondly, the developers met in person for the first time last weekend, and got an opportunity to sit down and hammer out the details of our next game, Firebreak. There have been a lot of questions in chat, and so I'll try to answer a few of them here before the Livestream so they can help inform deeper questions there.
Firebreak was foreshadowed in Chasing Sunsets and takes place in the same "universe."
Many secondary characters from CS will have more central roles in Firebreak.
We will have a greater number of love interests with full paths...Between 8 and 10.
While there is a sci-fi angle to the plot, it will NOT take place in space...Mostly.
The title "Firebreak" is a reference to a technology central to the plot.
There will likely be cameos from principal characters in Chasing Sunsets.
While nothing has been negotiated yet, it seems likely that there may be crossovers with other titles.
Our intent is to create an intriguing story that is not a slow-burn like CS with more LI variety.
While there will be no controversial kinks like incest, the story will be significantly less "vanilla" than CS.
We do not have a set number of chapters in mind. We will develop the game as long as the story demands.
Here is fairly spoiler-free synopsis:
"Enlisted by DARPA to research life support systems for a planned manned mission to the asteroid belt, something goes horrifically awry with one of the technologies Polygene has developed to mitigate many of the challenges associated with long-duration spaceflight. Disoriented and suffering from partial amnesia, you must unravel what went wrong and how to save the lives of everyone caught up in the failure cascade. Just be careful not to lose yourself in the process. "
We're very excited to get started on bringing another story to life for our patrons!
That said, there are a few things changing.
The $1 tier will remain, and patrons will continue to have access to Chasing Sunsets indefinitely. This tier will NOT grant access to Firebreak when it releases, and will instead become available at the $5 tier. This is a decision we have wrestled with for a long time, and we felt it wasn't fair to move the goalposts while CS was still in development. Making this change for Firebreak with the announcement well in advance of the first content drop seemed like the right time. We'll keep an eye on how Firebreak is received and subscription patterns to determine if additional tier tweaking makes sense.
As you can see, the tier names have already been updated to reflect their new Firebreak equivalents and all other artwork both in Discord and on subscription sites will soon be update to reflect our new development focus.
As for Steam, it sounds like Early Access may be going away, and if that's the case, it will likely force Firebreak to be sold in Season format. We will do everything we can to avoid this, as we find the practice distasteful, but we'll burn that bridge when we get to it.
Lastly, the Chasing Sunsets v1.10b beta is being worked on and hopefully pretty close to complete. I did get a build out, but it was missing about half the fixes that had been earmarked, and I was able to figure out why this weekend. It will take a few days to reincorporate them, but once that is done our testers will be able to validate the changes, and we'll push to all platforms.
Once again, this is the Ch0 - Ch10 bugfix, but NOT the remaster. There is no new art, but there are some branches that would not trigger before because of variable errors, etc. I cannot say for certain at this point if v1.10b will break saves. I will post it to Steam in Public Beta channel before merging it with the main branch when the time comes just in case.
For now, get your questions front loaded in our Discord channel and we'll look forward to talking with you all about the closing chapter of Chasing Sunsets and the development of the opening chapter of Firebreak in more detail!
As always, thanks for your support and we can't wait to show you what we've got cooking next!

Since Chapter 10 has launched, I've been going through Chasing Sunsets from top to bottom and with the help of our dedicated beta testers, cleaning up bugs, errors, inconsistencies, broken math, and typos.
For those of you on Steam, our Chasing Sunsets trading cards launched yesterday, and you should see them turning up in your inventory based on time played.

No matter what, we fix what's broken before we break new ground, but after that we have something of a fork in the road, and we're hoping our patron base can help guide us here.
One fork leads us to remaster the initial chapters in Chasing Sunsets, bringing the art, animations, character models, and presentation up to the same level as the later chapters in the game. This effort would also result in a simplified variable system and removal of custom code that makes localization to other languages and porting to Android difficult. It could also include an integrated in-game walkthrough mode.
The other fork takes us to our Firebreak project, which is the next story set in the Chasing Sunsets universe.
The third third choice would be to split the difference, working primarily on Firebreak and bringing CS production values up as time permits.
To help with you with that choice, we estimate focusing on remastering Chasing Sunsets would take one 4-6 month development cycle and beginning Firebreak development early in 2026. Conversely, completing the CS remaster while actively developing Firebreak has more unknowns, but there would be synergies. Since Firebreak will be built from the ground up to avoid the pitfalls some custom coding in CS created for us (compatability specifically) it would be a relatively simple matter to plug the CS assets into that when it's ready for prime time.
Regardless, it makes our decision easier if we know the sentiment of our supporters, so that's what this is: An opportunity to be heard and help us choose how to best serve you over the next few months.

Happy Friday, everyone!
Well, the intial launch wasn't entirely bug-free, but it was pretty close. That said, there were some issues that needed to be addressed. Here is the change log for Chapter 10's bugfix:
Chasing Sunsets v1.10a Changelog
Corrected path detection algoritm bug that led to some players not having their saves parsed properly.
Fixed continuity error after Day 2 where the judge referred to an evidence mistake as "yesterday" when it was in fact a week ago.
Fixed the script referring to a non-existent music file in Ch4, leading to gray screen.
Fixed Amanda using a contraction in her dream sequences.
Fixed an incorrect variable check where Lisa says she resigned from Polygene when speaking with AG Tom Reynolds.
Fixed several instances where MC's name was assumed to be "Alex" by the script.
Fixed several typos or grammatical issues identified by players and testers.
Updated little refugee girl's name from Gul to Alfire to maintain consistency with the closing credits.
We're hosting these updated files directly from Patreon, so hopefully nobody has any issues downloading them and recombining them into a playable game.
IMPORTANT:
1. There are no new sound or art files, so if you've already downloaded Chapter 10, you only need to download the CS1.10a patch and overwrite the scripts.rpa file in your game directory.
2. IF you are doing a fresh download, you will need five total files for the PC or Mac archive to unzip. The PC files are obvious because they have "pc" right in the filename. If you're getting the Mac version, get the five files without "pc" in the filename. The patch is not needed for either full binary.
Patch Instructions:
1. Download CS1.10a_Patch.zip
2. Unzip the file and extract the "scripts.rpa file"
3. Open your Chasing Sunsets folder, and paste the scripts.rpa file you just downloaded into it.
4. If prompted to overwrite the existing file, click "yes."
That's it! Subsequent boots of Chasing Sunsets should reflect version 1.10a under Settings/About in the game menu.
Stone Fox Studios is pleased to announce that Chasing Sunsets Chapter 10 is complete and available for download to all tiers.
You'll find the download links for GoFile and Mega stickied to the top of this page.
We recognize that for free Mega subscribers a 9GB download may stretch your bandwidth allocation. Please reach out to us here or on Discord if GoFile is not an option for you.
Kentyrr and I would like to thank everyone for their patience as we put the finishing touch on this hobby that became an obsession.
The epilogue serves the dual purpose of ushering our main protagonists off into their proverbial sunsets while laying the groundwork for our next project.
I'd write a longer post here, but I just wanted to get an announcement out as I'm running on about five hours of sleep over six days, and there are still other platforms I need to ensure are able to download before I can start catching back up on it!
Reminder, the only links at the moment are GoFile and Mega, and they are updated for v1.10 (Chapter 10 - Epilogue).
As always please report bugs either below or on our Discord where they'll be immediately seen. We are aware that one stray bit of beta code was left in at the beginning of the chapter with beta instructions. Just click through it and we'll post a version with that removed as we address any other bugs that surface.
We'll schedule a livestream soon so those of you with burning questions can hopefully get some answers, even if they're evasive ones.
One last note: Different endings can reveal information or story detail that isn't available in others. We look foreward to watching fans uncover things as they play multiple paths.
Once again, for those of you who have been with us from the beginning, we couldn't be more grateful. For those who have joined us more recently, thank you once again for waiting on us and hopefully you'll find your preferred ending fed your appetites.
Best,
Stoya/Kentyrr

I just didn't want to leave folks hanging with the "imminent" word in last week's post. We're set to release ahead of the weekend for sure and ideally in the next 24-48 hours.
What added the extra time?
Beta feedback was that groupchats in the phone app could be confusing, so I re-coded the phone app to make who is speaking very clear and allow in-convo choices to be made within the phone itself.
Beta feedback identified one character who probably deserved a sendoff who did not receive one. We've created a small supplementary scene to mitigate this.
We've added four new photo unlockables via phone chats that were not present in the original beta.
Kent made all new phone app avatars for all characters.
We've added some transition animations to represent travel.
We've made some route adjusments based on beta feedback.
We've added a Peanut Gallery of bonus artwork that is unlocked in-game.
We've corrected some bugs in previous chapters that were preventing players from achieving maximum points.
Kent re-rendered like 70 images because he hated MC's shirt asset.

As you can see, the name of the interlocutor and their image now shows up next to the line of dialogue. This wasn't important before, but with groupchats (and AI assistants) it became necessary.
As of right now, sound integration is likely to wrap up tonight or tomorrow at the latest and regression testing should take a day or so max.
As of this moment, I believe we'll launch Wed to all platforms or earlier barring any further surprises.
I will try my best to have a release candidate in the beta testers' hands late tonight so they have a full day to test tomorrow.
That said, Kent and I are pretty happy with the (near) finished product, and he has already begun working on remastering the Prologue and Chapter 1. (Thus the image outside Walter's bar above!)
Anyway, my next post will be download links, so stay tuned!

This is just a quick note to let everyone know the final content update for Chasing Sunsets is in active beta with general release anticipated during the week of July 14.
This is obviously later than we'd hoped, but but we did find some gaps that needed to be addressed, and we're quite happy with the improvements the additional dev time gave us.
Barring any significant issues identified by testers, we will push to all platforms on the same day.
Thank you so much for your patience as we worked out the kinks.
Looking forward to adding a little heat to your summer with the Campbell family swansong.
I'll make a much more detailed post with the General Availability release announcement.

Your nose doesn't deceive you, dinner is almost ready! I just wanted to take a few minutes and update you all on the final chapter.
I lost the first two weeks of June due to a motherboard failure. I came home from my kid's wedding and found my PC shut down with the dreaded "--" POST error code.
I quickly sourced a new motherboard and CPU (dumped Intel and went back to AMD) and installed new GPUs while I was at it.
In any case, this involved new water blocks, and other components that had my dev rig down about a week longer than I hoped.
I've been back up and running since Friday the 13th, and plugging away at refining the epilogue's codebase.
The chapter is currently playable from beginning to end at this point, minus sound and feature integration.
That said, during play, I became dissatisfied with the feel of one ending for a (major) path. Kent and I talked, and we're adding a scene that will go a long way toward addressing that shortfall.
I'd have even be tempted to let this one ride if it wasn't one of the three most common player endings, but since it was, here we are.
Kent is furiously working on the expanded artwork now, and I'll get it forked into the alpha build as soon as its ready.
Any new scene adds a few days generally, so there will necessarily be a short delay, but we're talking days, not weeks.
With luck, we'll have a beta packaged up this weekend and in tester's hands, with general deployment usually a few days later.
The caveat is that there's always a chance our testing team will find something that doesn't feel right or even find a broken branch. While this isn't common, we would be remiss if we didn't acknowledge the possibility.
I promise to post another update ASAP if there are any more surprises.
We're very close now to putting the cherry on this, and can't wait to ship it off to all of you to enjoy!

We are content-complete, which means we are now in post-production and in the process of prepping the beta for testing!
The next few weeks will be spent vetting out the pathing and performing internal consistency checks before releasing to the beta team for testing and quality control.
Since there is no point tracking in Chapter 10 and no End of Chapter Summary, some elements of building the episode are simplified, but since we're also touching all of the possible endings, there's a ton of dialogue and narrative consistency checking to do as we go.
I'd normally say I'm confident we'll release this month, but I will be out for a bit over a week (beginning the 14th) attending my daughter's wedding out of state. Once the art is complete, the rest of the package falls to me to tie up, but Kent will still be around to beat up on as your patience wears thin.
Instead, we'll focus on a June delivery we're comfortable with and if we can pull the dates in, we will. It's safe to say I'm as anxious to get this completed and shipped as the fans are, because I have two shiny new GPUs I can't use for Chasing Sunsets development collecting dust on my shelf.
Being the final content update (barring any bug fixes or quality updates that follow) this will see MC, Jaye, and Mallory off into the, uh...Proverbial sunset, while also setting up the next Stone Fox Studios project.
After the final content update, we will likely invest in localization as well, adding official translations for those regions Steam and Google Analytics indicate account for most of the interest in our game.
Watching it all come together in the final chapter feels a little like seeing my oldest getting married in a week. A little like having kids, I don't think either Kentyrr or I realized how much our hobby would take over once we committed to this.
We're hoping we've learned enough hard lessons to both make each ending feel rewarding and ensure we produce an even better game next time out.
I'll answer a few questions here which may contain limited spoilers. Read at your own risk!
Q: Are any of the endings sad or twists?
A: No, not really. If there's a twist in your story, it'll probably won't change the overall tone of the ending.
Q: Is there a harem ending?
A: Not per se, but there are at least three that aren't exclusive.
Q: How long is Chapter 10?
A: To me it feels longer than the others, but some scenes are absent from certain endings. From a sheer content generation perspective, it's about 33% bigger than our previous largest chapter.
Q: Will we see these characters again in future games?
A: We certainly hope so, and that's the plan.
Q: Why did Chapter 10 take so long?
A: Not for lack of effort. The ending covers more separate and new locations than any other chapter. That took a toll on Kent's ability to stretch our asset inventory.
Q: Which girls will return (in person) in Chapter 10?
A: Jaye, Mallory, Amanda, Lisa, Bianca, Erica, and Fiona at a minimum. Which the player sees will be ending-dependent.
Q: Will we see marriage and pregnancy?
A: Pocket sand!
Q: Will Amanda have another Zuul moment?
A: Can George tell the temperature of a lake peeing off the back of a boat?
Anyway, as we close in on the finish line and wrapping up this story, we're already primed and ready to get started on the next. Once again, we're grateful for your continued interest and support as our first project finds its own sunset.
We'll post updates once the beta is released to testers and based on their feedback, we've finalized a go date.
