Pop Star Academy: KATSEYE - EP 6

Pop Star Academy: KATSEYE - EP 6

I would love for Katseye to make it in the US, I think some of their songs are catchy enough for tiktok which seems like the way to blow up now of days but idk if it’s sustainable? I do look forward to what they do in the future since they obviously have talent. I’ve seen them doing more promotion in the US with mall performances and recently bigger stages, if anything people like their personalities so that’s a huge part. However, it seems like girl groups don’t last long or don’t get the chance before “something new” comes along with how fast people seem to change opinions. Either way I’ve grown to like them a lot

hmm I guess im looking at it from a kpop perspective rather than an American one bc im used to kpop. I also don’t know much abt western pop groups, but I can see why they would prioritize tiktok trends when it comes to music and choreo. I do feel that katseye has more potential than to just be a tiktok/viral group bc they’re so talented and it kinda feels like a waste to me in the long run 😭 so im hoping they develop their sound more in the future. not even abt the songs length, but the actual substance of the music and impact like you said. I feel like their songs rn are so simple and kinda boring (just my opinion tho). excluding touch, the rest of their album (idk if you heard it) and debut song would sound nicer if it came out years ago, but the sounds feels outdated now and kinda Disney channel ish? I do like “my way” the most tho! also for the choreo, you got a point ! for American appeal choreo isn’t that important overall but many western artists have started incorporating choreos more after kpop became really popular. what they’re doing right now is def enough, but maybe it’s the kpop fan in me that hopes to see more in the future. but im happy they got to show more choreo for the award shows! I’m also curious about what groups America did to help fans stick around for a long time. I feel like pop groups aren’t common in america that much anymore, esp not girl groups. so it’d be interesting to see if katseye revives it

It was like such the wrong time lmaooo 😭😭. For the discog. are you thinking they need more tracks at a standard length? If looking for america appeal, does the choreo matter as much as a worldwide gg? Not too sure but it feels like these short songs for social media virality makes sense for eyes, but wondering the impact that the tracks leave apart from being a trendy song for a moment here and there. I wasn't too involved with groups in america so I'm wondering what else those groups provided that helped stick around long term with fans

iliya saying “y’all wanted me out anyway” when they all reacted to her getting eliminated took me out 😭 also from what I’ve seen, it mostly seems like their fanbase is kpop fans so they haven’t gotten mainstream success yet in the US. they had pretty good reception when they promoted in korea but nothing super big as of yet, at least not on the scale that the doc hyped up. however I do believe katseye has the potential to be big, I’ve grown to really love them but they just gotta start by giving them some better discography and choreos
