JJK IS BACK BUT YES! Thank you for joining for the season!! What a show!
Gege just gave us ALLLLL the info! It’s a LOT to take in and I’m sure it’s going to get chaotic throughout this season with it all!
Kenjaku seems like he plans for 2-3 steps ahead and that makes me VERY nervous!
Yuuta is so sweet – but yeah, that’s interesting that he offers so quickly – our boy is quick to please, for sure. Interesting! And Yuuji being so worried about Megumi! Ugh, I love them and ship them so hard, now!
I’m psyched for meeting the third years!! Yeah, they’ve been a mystery as well!
Honestly, for an episode that was 80% exposition, it was made really exciting for us to watch! Thank you for the comment!!

Oh, JJK is back!!!! (I'm a bit late to the party, but I can't wait to go through this season with you).
I love the way that Gege just dumped so much information on everyone's lap with the rules for the Culling Game and now the very detailed, and yet broad game plan to tackle it. And, as with all the rules Gege creates, I find myself both understanding and a little lost with them.
You know what? You're 100% right that the fact that Kenjaku seems capable of adaptability makes him that much scarier and creepy. It's not good when your villain can create plans on the fly.
Gotta say, Yuuta is a cutie by wanting to not be separated from his friends anymore, he's such a sweetheart. That being said, he immediately offers himself to enter a colony alone, and I know that the purpose is to make recoinassence and support everyone better, but I find it hilarious that he says that he doens't want to be separated from everyone again, and that's exactly what he offered himself to do.
Yuuji been so worried over Megumi's safety will never cease to be my favorite thing. I have shipped them since the first moment I saw them interacting, and I'm so happy that I keep getting fuel for my ship to sail a long, long journey.
I am really psyched that we'll get to finally meet the third years! Or, well, at least one of them, it seems. Alongside Yuuta, they have been a mystery since season 1, only name dropped - at least their existance - but nothing more.
Considering how explanation heavy this episode is, I really loved the way that it was animated with the almost interactive visuals and the organized pointers. It was fun, it's all I'm saying.

Nooooooo, Taraaaaa! Hahaha!! I appreciate you re-writing, of course!
Thank you for the kind words – I love this long wig, but it is a handful to mess with, haha!!
That’s a fair point about being nonbinary with Brain-Kun! Thanks for the Japanese point with them!
I totally agree on the Psycho-Pass vibes, too!! Yessss! And ooohhhh, fascinating at Tengen’s VA being connected to that series as well!
Mannnnn, BeHappy picked THE most important player in the story, eh? Yes, it’s WILD the impact this man has had on the series so far! Don’t say third time’s a charm, noooooo! Let’s hope not!
OHHHHH THE FIRE HAZARD WITH THE CIGARETTES AND THE ALCOHOL – girl, why you got a deathwish?! Poor Ichiji!
Yeah, Akutami really took the time to explain everything! And yesssss, all the ways to plan things out and you KNOW Gege is going to allow chaos to ensue! *nervous laughter* And yeah, NO MEGUMI – no suicidal attempts – maybe him saying that Itadori cannot die until HE does, and we know Megumi doesn’t WANT Yuuji to die…means that he is going to get away from those tendencies? A girl can dream, though, right? I feel Yuuji’s disgust, though!
That is a fair point about the Culling Game taking that amount of time, especially in comparison to Shibuya….*nervous laughs harder*
Choso was absolutely PRECIOUS this week – I loved him in the episode. :3 And THIS IS The Care Bears Mission, yessss! Now, let’s see if the Naoya x Angel theory holds water in the season to come! 😛Thank you so much for the comment!!

Hello! Thank you for the comment! Unfortunately, I cannot read this comment because it contains a spoiler, hint, or clue to something I will discover in the manga or anime later on! Hopefully, I can read your comments in the future, though! Thanks for the support!

I don't know if you've noticed, but Tengen's voice is... the narrator's voice from season 2 !!
A lot of us manga readers were hoping for it as soon as we heard the voice they picked for the character (old voice and another reason that I can't mention here because spoilers). And the fact that it ended up really being what Mappa was going for is just... chef's kiss. Making the suuuuper old near-omniscient character the narrator simply just fits.
You can keep calling him brain-kun if you want, I feel like everyone has a nickname for him xDDD. When the manga came out, we used to call him "Fake Getou" or "Getwo", and the Boldcast channel calls him Umbrella Man xDD.
But about his real name : "Brain's real name Kenjaku seems to have been derived from Fukūkenjaku (不空羂索観音), one of the many avatars of the Buddhist deity Avalokiteshvara (who's known as Kannon in Japan). He's said to have postponed his own attainment of nirvana until he led every human on earth to salvation and helped them achieve enlightenment." (courtesy of a kind person on reddit 5 years ago)
If you remember the Heaven and Earth line was also a Buddha quote, so Gege does seem to draw a lot of inspiration for his work from eastern mythology.
.
Very astute observation about Kenjaku being adaptable because of how he took advantage of the (as far as we know) unexpected actions of Toji Fushiguro. After all, if his goal is to unleash a chaos that even he can't control, as he said in season 2, he better be a good improviser !
You can even see that during the Shibuya Incident that Kenjaku doesn't seem to be the kind to want *everything* in his plans to go perfectly. After all he told Mahito that he also wanted to absorb Jogou once he got powerful enough (and probably the other disaster curses tbh), but that it was ok that it didn't work out.
Finally I'd argue that the same goes in the Mechamaru fight. Brain-kun was surprised of the possibility that Mahito would lose, saying something along the lines of "if this keeps going, now might be the moment that I have to...", referrencing consuming Mahito. So really, it fits what we've seen of him that even though he's got some mad plans, he's ready at all times to do a U turn if necessary.
Anyway, sorry for the long comment, at first I had just written a paragraph but listening to your analysis made me think about some other things to prattle on about 😅.

Halfway through the discussion and Tara stood on my laptop and deleted the somewhat long comment I had been compiling 😭 I managed to remember most but not all of what I wrote...but that still leaves a decent length of a comment 😅
Absolutely love your Tsukumo cosplay! 😍
For Brain-kun (though from this episode on I can now call him Kenjaku [the last spoiler I know about, but did not know it would be revealed now 😅]) with what we've seen so far, I consider them to be non-binary. Especially as, when speaking with Gojo after revealing their true form, they very rarely used any pronoun and the only pronoun I picked up on them using was "watashi" which is one of the more commonly used pronouns and is used by both men and women.
This episode was giving me some Psycho-Pass vibes with the introduction of the idea of Tengen being a construct and now being able to assimilate with other people, as well as the introduction of the system (Kogane) as the Game Master. I don't know if Tengen's seiyuu made this vibe stronger for me but it has definitely left me a little wary; their voice actor is Sakakibara Yoshiko who voiced Kasei in Psycho-Pass 😅
So Toji's to blame for everything, right? 😂 BeHappy sure can pick a husbando 😝 But all jokes aside, it's honestly crazy that Toji's actions are what have inadvertently helped Kenjaku in his third attempt at this mass assimilation (third time's a charm and all that 😅😥) Not just in his killing of Amanai, but also his use of the Inverted Spear of Heaven to 'kill' Gojo. The latter likely gave Gojo some trauma, hence why he sealed or destroyed the weapon; but it also gave Geto trauma and sent him into a depressive spiral leading to his departure from Jujutsu Society (and Gojo) and his eventual death 😭
Both when I watched the episode and when watching your reaction my focus with Ieiri goes to all those bottles of alcohol and that fire hazard of an ashtray. Also that ashtray has gotta reek. And even if she is a long time smoker she's bound to smell it 🤧 That's all I could think of in my first watch of this episode 😆 Watching your reaction however I was able to rejoice at seeing Ijichi again 🥺
Quite a heavy exposition episode but I'm so glad that Akutami took the time to fully lay out the rules like this, while also making it clear that within at least some of these rules our protagonists do have some work around. But when they started talking about their well laid plan all I could think was the Robert Burns' line from his play 'To A Mouse': "The best laid plans of mice and men often go astray." All the more when we see that Kenjaku is a smart AND adaptive villain when his plans go awry, while also being willing to be patient and play the long long game 😢
I said this in the Discord too, but Fushiguro's line to Itadori about getting Okkotsu to kill Itadori after Fushiguro's dead (i.e. yet another example of his suicidal tendencies) makes me want to shake him and tell him that this is not okay. I do not want Romeo and Juliet, Jujutsu Kaisen style, with ItaFushi; please and thank you! I do love the look of absolute disgust on Itadori's face though in that moment 😂
I had a different reaction to you on hearing Tengen estimate the Culling Game would take two months. All I can think about is the mass of damage, death, and destruction that was wrought in a matter of hours in Season 2 to make me absolutely terrified about what could happen over a larger timeframe and larger area 😅😨
Choso's little hand movement of shushing Tsukumo for teasing him over his reaction to Itadori's goodbye was the cutest thing ever! 🥺
I absolutely love you nicknaming our protagonists' plan as "the Care Bears' Mission" 🤣🤣🤣
Oooh I like how your brain thinks regarding Angel taking away Naoya's technique! It would feel so karmic after those comments he made about Maki 😍🤩
