STEINS;GATE: Episode 23 FULL LENGTH Reaction!

*BACK BACK BACK TO HEADPHONE WARNINGS*

Romania was like, "what could happen in this penultimate episode?" How about...EVERYTHING AND ANYTHING! I'm not going to spoil this episode for you all, but it had me so excited, enraptured, intrigued, and curious as to what is all yet to unfold...it's going to be a long discussion this week, y'all!

STEINS;GATE: Episode 23 FULL LENGTH Reaction!

Comments

The writing at this point does feel rushed and inconsistent, but we did establish the science early on, and I still appreciated to see a time traveling show use real life scientific concepts. I still recommend saving the movie for last and watching Steins;Gate 0 after this original series. 0 is more connected to the original series than the movie is, and it'll be good to continue your train of thought. Max Derrat is a YouTuber who reviews mostly video games, and claims to be a scholar. He watched Steins;Gate and calls it "groundbreaking" for incorporating Heidegger's philosophy. It would be nice to hear your thoughts on his analysis since almost everyone misses this central philosophical point in the story: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aIb_r-G7F_0

Sees an hour and 16 minutes yeah that sounds about right This episode was deserving of a chaos berry just screams internally and externally too Just a side note I actually didnt watch the dub until way later so most of that thought regarding Kurisu was from the sub. Oh the opening of episode 23 and episode 24 is different it's now the second verse of Hacking to the Gate and there is a slight change around the chorus of Hacking to the Gate where there are multiple Kurisus Ok so this episode was wild and there's alot of things that's happened from the start until now so I'll just add a few notes of things mentioned in the past that may have been forgotten. John Titor aka Amane did say in episode 2 that the Grandfather Paradox as she calls it is a hoax and it is possible to meet yourself in another worldline but if you do you will just switch world lines. I assume this is why in this episode she is adamant about dont let your other self see you because if both selves know that the other exists it will lead to an autocorrect by moving one to a different world line. So I think we're still sticking with that rule. Can we trust delulu Okarin? Well sips tea I think we've been trusting him for the past 23 episodes so why not I guess. It's very interesting how much colder Beta world line Amane is compared to Alpha world line Amane and I think it's because one of them got to have friends and a normal life for a bit in 2010 while the other hasnt and has been numbed by war and death. Romania for 23 episodes of Steins gate Give Mayuri hugs honestly she deserves it and Okarin is a 10/10 character and .5 deducted for no Mayuri hugs lol. I think alot of things click for me about Kurisu after seeing this episode. In the early parts of Steins gate when Kurisu comes to the lab and sees the banana experiments she freaks out and runs away and then says she doesnt want to become her father. Then later on we get an explanation as to her relationship with her father. Alpha World line Kurisu created theories concerning the brain and memory and most likely was going to take it a step further towards time travel at some point but out of fear of being rejected by her father and by the scientific community held herself back and Okarin is the one who motivates her to go for it. Beta World line Kurisu didnt need Okarin to motivate her to take that step because her father contacted her and invited her to the conference so she created this whole paper driven by this idea of being able to make peace with her dad. The more I think about Kurisu is the more the realization hits that her story is really tragic. You know when Kurisu said that her dad took out his frustrations on her mom I pictured shouting and verbal abuse and while that's not good either maybe his level of abusiveness just kept evolving and getting worse until he snaps as he does in this episode or maybe he was always like this and this is why her mom and her have left him but either way I never expected her dad to be this unhinged. In the Alpha world line Kurisu's last conversation with her dad was very similar to this confrontation in the closet as she told Okarin on the slide that her dad said to her Are you trying to pity me?Do you look down on me? You're my daughter how dare you Honestly while I dont want Okarin to murder her dad I hope he gets a couple punches in because that's so messed up to think of your daughter this way. He should be proud of her and be inspired by her. It really sucks that Kurisu had to endure all this from her father. Well the finale is next episode and hopefully my quest to find Dr. Pepper will be successful by then.
