It's the Season 1 Penultimate Episode and HOOOO BOY IS IT! I was so wrong about Ren Kaji and the impression he would have on me -- I am in love, y'all! He gets to LITERALLY Shine this episode and the cliffhanger!? Oh.....this week is amazing and next week is going to be EVEN MORE Fantastic! I cannot WAIT, y'all!

Thank you so much for the comment and kind words! The symbolism in this show is SOOOOO good! So many Sakura blushes and Sugi is just so adorable in his sleeping face! I wouldn’t have suspected a link between Choji and Sakura, but I’m here for it! Kaji is just SOOOOOOO good – I love him already so much! It’s going to be interesting to see where his character goes in all this, especially with a VA like that! I think Suo could have been onto something with Risa ahead of the group - good call! And Enomoto is so fun with his rolling rrrrrr’s - I’m jealous! Sakura is evolving as a character and we love to see it! I appreciate that Kotoha and I are on the same page! XD Also, YES, Kiryuu’s hair looks so good as well! The series is going to test me with the new names all coming out! I love how Nirei and Suo are settling into their “roles” in the group! 2026-01-21 21:55:59 +0000 UTCGreat discussion! thank you for the reaction I love that ep 9 sand getting pressured into glass comment, that symbolism was so good! also i love the comment about the use of voice! class 1-1 is so supportive for Sakura I think this is the episode with the most Sakura blushes in one ep lol, his face was pretty much red the entire time outside of flashbacks 😊 Sugi is not interested at all at being the leader, Sakura is grasping at straws here Sugi's funniest face in the previous episode (with Tsuge) and cutest face this ep (sleeping) suo and nirei being Sakura's vice captains... here is the start of SuoNirei and their stray cat child Sakura /j I like the link Sakura made between Choji and himself because on the outside, without the flashbacks, they did seem similar in regards to aiming for the top and loving fighting. But they are also pretty different. Thankfully both of them have caring people supporting them. lol Sakura: how do you know me? also Sakura: 1 big street brawl before class even started, shishitoren fight on day 2 of school Kaji RRRen! I had my mouth very much sealed when it came to his personality lol he kinda looked like Inumaki from JJK but he's interesting with his chill aloof-like vibes but also loud sometimes, he's got a sense of responsibility but still leaves a lot to his friends/vice captains, plus i like his interactions with Sakura and his vice captains Nobuhiko is putting both his Nishinoya/Bakugou screaming voice and his more chill voice to use, Kaji's voice going chill as soon as the headphones were off was hilarious Kaji you're gonna kill your ears... 😂 something that I liked about kaji's comment on grade captain is that this is just a class grade captain, not a dictatorship. if it doesn't work out, they can also just have someone else take the role. and I like how Anzai said that Sakura is still a member of the class, and the class will support him Funny that you clocked that Risa is not a person but a cat or something while Sakura and Nirei thought it was a child for some time 😂i wonder if suo already suspected it was a cat by the time he was texting the groupchat Enomoto running with rrr rr rrr sounds was so funny this ep can be summarized as catception - catkura vs catji vs risa cat lmao Sakura parkour! gotta flex that action animation even in an episode with no fight! the inspirational music, Sakura trying to have a serious moment and then kaji's face going chibi as he says there's nothing he wants to do as the grade captain 😂 kaji i hope that lollipop wasn't in your pocket when you jumped into the water... i like the idea that the candy links to his need for bofurin and his captaincy - candy calms him down but he cannot make the candy himself co-dependency but also the necessity of bonds between people, and the acknowledgement that there are things he can do and things he can't do. and there's nothing wrong with being unable to do some things, you can figure out what you can do, or have things you want to do that you can work towards being able to do. interesting that Kaji says Kusumi communicates well with others but Kusumi doesn't speak aloud (actually when I checked, he doesn't even have a VA assigned to him so I wonder whether he's actually mute...) Kaji you gotta put some clothes on, stop with the fanservice! once again, I like that Sakura ponders on things, get opinions from other people and then come to his own conclusion from what he's learned and he's also open to change unexpected catboy Nirei cameo lol bashful stuttering Sakura is so adorable , Yuma Uchida did an amazing job with him Sakura spent the night thinking about a man's back .... /j Romania, your "really?" face is the same as Kotoha's 😂 Ah i like Kotoha's interactions with Sakura... giving him advice, teasing him, rooting for him, and Sakura getting all embarrassed hehe I like Kiryu's hair too! loose and casual with the hairclip! also his startled face when Umemiya blasted everyone in the broadcasting room was so funny Sugi's "grow!"😂 after saying you're not good with names in the previous episode and then this ep slams you with a bunch of new names lmao when you joked about Nirei having a photographic memory and a few scenes later we learn that he memorized all the names the night before lol even Suo was shocked with that lmao Sakura and Nirei's look at Suo's role as negotiator (interrogator) awww Sakura calling them by their names! though I think Nirei and Suo are both last names , but no honorifics! Sakura please call Umemiya "Umemiya-san" before Sugi gets mad again and the 4 kings and their vice captains are here!! the style! i love sweater paws... both on this king and with kiryu also huh i never noticed the cameo pants, got distracted by the skirt in front of him haha

Sakura and Kaji’s meeting and introduction to each other this episode was so great! I love Nirei’s memory skills as well! Kusumi is just THE helper and keeper of Bofurin…charged to task with Kaji, specifically. :P It reminds me of Suo keeping track of Sugi! Kaji was a journey this week but his character fascinates me! I really want Sugi to just be yelling to the plants and Umemiya just teary-eyed, watching from afar, while Hiragi sighs intensely. Thank you for the comment and kind words! Maybe the bingo prize can be the friends we met along the way. 😆 Various things I loved: Sakura chasing after Risa-chan in the most desperate and hilarious manner, and Kaji coming in with that final moment. Nirei showing his amazing skills, am envious of his memory Kusumi being Kaji’s headphone helper 😆 Everyone teasing Sakura a little about saying their names, and Nirei and Suo being delighted when he does 🥰 Really enjoyed all the comparison and contrasting of the different characters and their approaches in the discussion, especially Kaji and Kiryu I think was such an interesting pair. And The Fox as an archetype similar to Kaji is on point. Was also great to watch your impression of Kaji go on a whole journey in this episode. 🥰 Have to say again that I loved the comment of Sugi going “Grow!” This sent me. 🤣 I immediately thought of those studies that claim that speaking to plants makes them grow better… but now I’m picturing Sugi doing that in the most Sugi-way possible. 🤣 Cannot wait forrrrr next week! 🌸

2026-01-11 10:59:09 +0000 UTCAND HERE COMES THE REN KAJI! this dude is absolutely ICONIC I love how you mentioned that you had different first impression of Kaji, because that is what I had too! I expected a totally different character type when I read WB for the first time. At this point I do not really remember WHAT I expected from his character but definitely not... *gesticulates* that. Outside of being in my absolute top5 WB characters he is also one of people in this series I relate a little bit to. There isn't a character that I would say is 100% me or anything like that, but there definitely is a lot of characters who has some characteristics that I could relate to. With Kaji it definitely are his anger issues, because it's also something that I had to deal with when I was younger due to my trauma. Thats why his character is so important to me, because with how author portrays his issues is very similar to what I felt myself when I was a kid/teen. I also love how we can see that his friends support him so much and depend on him and how he depend on them. Just like with Choji, when his depression problems weren't unvalidated or demonize by a narrative of a story. I like that abou WB, like to this point the narrative of a story really focus on showing that a lot of people just have problems and it's very important that they need support and help and time to cope with it instead of overcriticize them. There will never be any selfprogress and selfchange due to hate - people need other people to work on themselves. It's very hard to do it when you are sure there is no place for you in this world. It's also amazing like WB managed to show and establish so much in only 12 episodes lol. I think first season only covers like 5 volumes or so from like 24, so Nii Satoru (the author) really does not play about covering the topics he wants to cover lmao. Just from the sole writing of only Sakura in the only first season I think we can say he knows what he wants to say with his manga. I love how Kusumi just. Goes and took the headphones from Kaji's head and Kaji does not react negatively to it whatsoever. I think it actually shows that it's normal situation between them that happens a lot and Kaji feels comfortable around his vicecapitans and trusts them a lot. At least how I see it, because from my perspective a lot of people wouldn't be happy if someone would just straight up goes to them and took their own headphones from their head without a warning. I LOVE the topic of using someone's names towards them so much you have no idea. During Kotoha's and Sakura's talk it was probably mi first big "OCH MY GOD" moment during this series, because one thing - sudden realisation that yeah, Sakura DIDN'T use anyones name towards them to this point of a story AT ALL. Not even once. I think he once thought "Thats Umemiya???" when he met him for the first time, but that wasn't addressing him directly. Even when we read his thoughts it was alsways "him, he, you, she, they, this one" etc. Even with characters in some form of position of power like Umemiya, Hiragi or Kaji, he was always with "you, he" istead of using a name (with or without honorfix). Like I LOVE how dedicated the author is to his work and how he thinks things through. Thats probably the reason I love WB so much, because I love analyzing media I consume and with WB I know that how characters are written is not an accident, but I can actually think about how they behave, talk, looks and interact with others, even outside of symbolicism of names and motifs. The second thing is that how important it is to me as a transgender person (nonbinary trans, but still trans nonetheless). Kotoha saying that (I will quote the manga translation I have open now but it's literally the same what it was in the anime) "You kniw, just learning someone's name is something you can do. And once you have got their name down, you have to start using it. Calling someone by their name is declaration of acceptance that you ARE seeing them for who they are". Just like... it's important in everyday life, but from the perspective of a trans person with different legal name and choosen name living in a country that changing my name legally wouldn't be so easy (I live in a country with a very gendered name system and changing my name to different name that is gender-neutral or a gender that I do not have in my documents would nearly always results with refusal) its something that is SO important. Because what Kotoha says its 100% true - learning someone's name and using it towards them IS a declaration of acceptance who they are. And for a lot of people it's a lot harder that you may think, when it's only using a name. That's why I'm so grateful that my friends and my sister use my choosen name, Elliot, towards me, because for me it's a symbol that they accept me. Not even accept me as a nonbinary person, but accept me as me, accept me as who I am and who I want to be in this world. I think it also can be very important for people with names very hard to pronounce or names deeply related to their heritage, culture and history, especially when we talk about people like immigrants, refugees, minorities, indigenous people etc. Using their names is accepting them for who they are in a world that, ususally, wants to erase them. It's like saying "you ARE here and I SEE you". I just think the world would be the better place If we would start recognize other people as, well, as... people. As other humans, that deserve the respect. During the presentation of Four Kings in the end of the episode, I like how the character in heels (I think I will use they/them towards them until we will know more about them because you said you are not sure about their gender and I do not want to spoil or insinuate anything) is the only character who have exact same jacket as Umemiya (very long jacket partet at the bottom of it) when the rest of the charcters have classic furin jackets or stylised in their own way. And they both look DOPE as hell ngl. Edit - och one more thing! I love Nirei there. Like Nirei just decided that autism is a competition and he is winning it. WHAT AN ICON to just. remember the whole school (every class has like 30-35 people and there is 12 classes so like 360-420 people) in one night because why the hell not. Even Suo was outfreakied out there, thats some insane shit. I love how Nirei can't fight but he is still showed by the story as HIGHLY competent and usable, not as only someone that is there to be protected and to be Sakura's friend for the sake of being friends. Nirei is just a part of Furin as everybody else and he is liked and respected by everyone just like every other member and Nirei himself does absolutely everything he could to help both Sakura and the city. His character shows that you can fight in a lot different ways than just through your fists. And Sakura and Suo didn't even... expected anything like that from Nirei. Like for them he was great just the way he was already and he was a material for vicecapitan even without him showing his absolute insanity (sorry but remembering 400+ people in one night??? bro). For them he was already good as he is, it was him who wanted to do more and who wanted to help more, especially when he was understanding that Sakura have problems with socialising with other people and he may need help on this matter. And Suo who literally said "well I can just torture someone" but with prettier words. He is so funny and FOR WHAT
