Takopi's Original Sin: Episode 1 FULL LENGTH Reaction!

*HUG SOMEONE HEADPHONE WARNINGS*

You'll get the content warning from the first of this episode, but this was maybe the most heartbreaking first episode of ANY show I've ever watched and what normally takes seasons of character development to get to is thrust upon us in EPISODE ONE.

Takopi is adorable, naive, and innocence in the cutest form...and the child they've bonded with...I just don't have the words...well, I do. In the video! What a ride we are on, now!

Thank you for watching with me and for all the support!

Takopi's Original Sin: Episode 1 FULL LENGTH Reaction!

Comments

Even if it's an exaggeration, if you’ve been a teacher and care about students, there’s no way this wouldn’t hit you hard. And as a teacher, it really hits. That is interesting to know about the causes of death in Japan - so thank you for that information and the comment!

Such exciting times, right?! I really felt for Shizuka, Marina, and the lack of help and resources they’re receiving through all of this. It really is an ultimate injustice! Honestly, the GRAPHIC just IMAGE they showed in this episode was heartbreaking…compunded with Takopi not understanding. Ugh. It really is heartbreaking and I cannot imagine as a PARENT watching that, especially one to children. I am so mad at the parents in THIS show, but that’s a conversation for another episode - this coming week! A sob fest of an episode indeed! Thank you for the kindness and support - we all needed a hug after this episode…and probably will need one after each future episode as well.

What fun first episode to start this short but intense journey 😢 I can’t describe the anger and heartbreak I felt on behalf of the poor little kid who was absolutely broken. Shizuka is paying for the adults sins that she has nothing to do with. The ultimate injustice.. Like you, I suspected she d try to commit suicide after Takopi gave her the ribbon especially with the warning at the beginning But nothing could prepare me for the onslaught of tears that hit me, I started bowling at seeing her dead little body hanging … it’s indescribable the grief I felt on behalf of her, which can be partly explained because I m a mom and I momentarily put myself in a position where one of my kids is bullied and broken to the point that they would rather take their life than continue living.. how cruel and heartbreaking.. How hard can you hate your daily life to choose death over life? 💔 And poor Takopi, coming from Happy planet and arriving in Earth to spread happiness only to see what ugliness humanity has to offer wasn’t easy for the little cute alien. So yeah, a sob fest of an episode. Thank you for a raw unfiltered amazing reaction and discussion..

Of course, the teacher not noticing the bullying is a typical exaggeration found in anime. While Japanese teachers may indeed have a tendency to avoid getting involved in troublesome matters, it would be impossible to ignore something like what's happening in this anime. In reality, bullying in Japanese schools tends to be more insidious and hidden—like ignoring the victim—making it harder for adults to notice. After watching this episode, I got curious and did a quick Google search. It's about the top three causes of death among minors (ages 10 to 19) in Japan, South Korea, the US, the UK, France, Germany, Canada, and Italy. Notably, the leading cause of death is suicide in Japan and South Korea, while it's accidental injury in the other countries. (Incidentally, a distinctive feature in the United States is that homicide ranks second, which is not seen in the other countries.)
