Brainstorming

Hi guys! 

I'd like to do a bit of brainstorming with you if you're up for it. 

I've been thinking of ways to improve the Patreon, and I'd love to offer pre-supported files to help those who might not be capable or skilled in doing it themselves. 

One idea that came to mind is to create a community where those who are already skilled in supports can take care of one model per month (or more if they prefer) and share it with the subscribers' community for that specific month. This way, everyone could save a lot of time, only having to create supports for one model every now and then instead of doing it all on their own.

 We could also implement an anonymous feedback system, allowing those who have made some mistakes to correct the file. Of course, it would be entirely optional, and only those who feel capable of doing so would contribute, without pressure or toxic behavior towards those who make mistakes or are not able/willing to do it. 

I also think that we could all improve in supports by seeing how other people do it and taking the best from each one.

I've created this post as a survey, but feel free to write in the comments if you have better ideas than mine or if you think it's a silly idea not worth pursuing. Let me know :)

P.S. "Why don't you do it yourself?" I don't have enough experience yet to create perfectly pre-supported files, and I don't like it when I try to print a pre-supported file from a creator and the print fails, so for now, I prefer not to. But more importantly, I prefer to dedicate as much time as possible to modeling! Just that :)

Changes in the patreon formula

Hi guys!

Short version 

I'm going to change the amount of Pokemon released monthly from 8+ to 5-8.

Long version

As some of you may know, this is not my job, it's a small project I dedicate some of my free time to.

In recent months, I've been struggling a bit to keep up. As those who have been following me for a while may know, I've improved a lot compared to the first few months: things are more polished, with more details, more effects, the bases are more complex, etc.

This has led to an increase in the time required to model each object, and often I find myself rushing things, not having the opportunity to scrap a design and start from scratch if I come up with a better idea or if I don't like the result...

In other words, I don't want to be in a situation where I have to choose Pokemon like Voltorb and Electrode just to reach a minimum number of Pokemon to release.

I had planned to add one Pokemon every month to the new welcome pack to progress fairly quickly toward the 5-10 Pokémon, but I simply don't have the time to do it...

We're also approaching 40 subscribers, and I should prepare something nice for the 3-month loyalty pack... but I don't have the time to do it! I can't release a Metapod and call it a 'loyalty pack'. It would be a mockery for my subscribers. :(

For these reasons, I've decided to remove the numerical limit of 8+ Pokemon per month and leave it open (you can still expect something between 5 and 8, or even just 1 in case I decide to work on a large diorama with many Pokemon on it). I want to focus on quality rather than quantity, and I want to dedicate the right amount of time to even the less loved Pokémon, which often, with some attention, can become just as interesting as the classics. (and also hopefully get some time to replenish the welcome pack)

If that '8+' number was the sole reason you decided to subscribe/renew, I'm sorry, but this Patreon might not be the right fit for you anymore. You can stay, leave, hop in and out based on what you find interesting month by month... as always, the choice is yours :)

P.S. I can already tell you that in the November release there will be 7 Pokemon, so you can get an idea of what to expect, given the rule change.

Hi guys! We reached 20 patrons! Thank you for the support :D

As mentioned in the infobox, I'll create a new welcome pack with exclusive figure released only here on patreon. I want to change the older one because it's made with models from my first month of modelling, and I prefer to have something that better matches with the actual releases. I'll start working on it in september. 

*Newcomers that decide to suscribe now will still get the old one until the new one it's available.

Regarding holiday delays

I'm ending the August models so I'll be on time for that, but expect a small delay for the Septemer release (and probably October too, until I catch up at least) due to my holidays in August. Thanks for the understanding.

Regarding this giveaway format, I'm sorry that I can't offer something with more value as a prize... it would be cool to do giveaways with 3d printers, but as you can see I'm a small creator and there's no 3d printer brand sponsor or similar. The idea was to create a small community that can share prints, ideas and advise without being shy if something it's not perfect. We'll try again in the future when/if the community gets bigger and/or I can offer something more desirable :)

"Funny" story about a big creator claiming my desing as their own

About a week ago DM studio (a big pokemon figures maker with thousands of followers) opened the preorders for the figure in the photo. 

As you can see the Haunter is completely identical to the the one I made in the past (here the link STL file Haunter pokemon 3D print model・Design to download and 3D print・Cults (cults3d.com) ) the cool part is that reselling physical copies of my design is allowed and there is only to pay 2$ per month (while most creators charge 5 to 20$) but also they are claiming it like their original work! while it's obvious from the release date of mine that it does not belongs to them lol. If they designed their own with a similar pose it would be good, but this is literally 1:1, some details like cracks, the hands... they are literally identical XD

I'm doubtful about gastly's face too since it has the same pose of mine, but it's a pretty simple geometry so it's possibile that they did it from 0... and they did a better job with the "ghost fire", good for them.

That figure also have 2 gengar in different poses and one of them is ripped 1:1 from the pokedex studio design... that one also claimed as their own original lol

I wanted to report this since it's a bit hilarious to me that a big studio with those numebers of follower turns out being full of plagiarism from creators with less than 200 followers...

BTW, I always try to make the best of bad situations. So let's say that, as a new creator, this is a huge confirmation that what I'm doing is good or at least I'm going in the right direction in terms of ideas/design :)

Design poll

Hi guys!

Just a quick poll to gather feedback for future projects :)

In the last couple of months I've spent some time to learn how to create effects like smoke, energy waves, beams, water, fire and so on. I still have to improve a lot and my free time is not as much as I want, but still I'm moving in that direction.

At same time I know that adding more dynamic to the pose, making the figure stand on a beam/wave/cloud, instead of his feet, makes the whole structure more fragile. So I wanted to know, how do you feel with this? Do you prefer more solid, stable, basic pose or are you ok with the direction that I've choose?

June preview

Hi guys!

Here's an update on the June release. With venusaur I've finished with the clones from the mewtwo movie, hope you like them! :)

I'm slicing them in multiple parts for easy printing, they will be also available with/without vine whips in case you want to avoid possible fragile parts.

Updates, changes, new tier and a small contest

Hi everyone! Some updates on the Patreon page.

As mentioned 45 days ago I've updated the price for the 2nd tier, the old one will be discontinued but you can keep it as long as you have the automatic renewal.

I added a new tier for people that want stuff not pokemon related or that want to catch up with older release. Basically you can pick up to 6 more pokemon per month at your choice. It also includes all benefit from all previous tier. Check the infobox of that tier if you are interested.

CONTEST: I'd like to try a small contest. This is for everyone, Patron or not. You just have to print and paint one of my 3D model from the cults3d page (even the free stuff is good to participate). and share it on cults3d in the "make" section of that model. I'll choose the one that I like the most at the end of the month and the winner can choose a 3D model to get for free.

If you like this kind of stuff we can do this every month and rotate the winner selection to: randomly chosen, chosen by the community (a poll or something like that) and chosen by me.

P.S. Since I'm bad with image editing I'll use 3d renders for the top cover photo. As you can see there's a prof. Oak. He's not "printable", he's there just to introduce stuff every month ;)

Some updates, reminder, a free Ditto and more boring stuff

Hi guys! Just a quick update :)

For whatever reason, I can't charge my patrons on the 1st day of the month. So you have to be patient, if you are on your 2nd month or more, I'll send everything to your cgtrader/telegram chat once I get a notification about renewal. I'll add an option to pay per year so I can send stuff as soon as it's available, at least to the one that decide to subscribe this way, and if I'm doing this correctly you should be able to save 2 months to the final price. Hoping to fix the payment issue for everyone in the meanwile... thanks for your understanding.

Remember that as a patron you have a 20% discount on cults 3D if you want to buy older stuff, DM me before buying so I can add a temporary discount.
