This episode could be a tame, filler episode too -- but those don't exist in the Apothecary Diaries' world! MaoMao - through helping her friend - learns where all the tea is getting "served" figuratively and inadvertently may be helping out and getting closer to some answers that have been "plaguing" this series so far!

Ahh, I just realized you’d left these comments for Episodes 13-15! I am catching up as well, but no worries! Glad you have your laptop back! 😀 That does make sense about MaoMao only thinking of the Verdigris house for Xiaolan; girl doesn’t have a lot of job experience outside of that and the rear palace/Jinshi’s - which is oddly enough quite the job variety when you think about it…but then again…MaoMao has a “particular set of skills.” ;) If I wasn’t a big Jinshi x MaoMao shipper, I’d have jumped onto the Shisui or even Suirei ship with her! 😛I gotta support Jinshi any way I can, though! Xiaolan is a precious bean, though, and deserves all the hugs! And girl has her priorities when it comes to the eunuchs! XD The three sisters are interesting and I like that the youngest gets to hang out and have some individuality with MaoMao and the others. And of COURSE MaoMao doesn’t have a lot of sexual experience herself, so she finds the most blunt, practical and non-sexual way to teach…she reminds me of a certain artist….in a movie you recommended, in that regard? 😛 That is interesting on the translation for Lishu entering the royal palace; regardless, I agree with you in that it’s a bit gross and I’m “personally not a fan” of it. She needed a hug massively after this episode and the next! Ooohhh, that is interesting that that band that did this ED did the one for Twittering Birds! Nice! I hadn’t made that connection, so that is good to know! 😀 I love the concepts and topics that Apothecary Diaries brings up! And yes, I love to be scalded by showers haha - the hot water also helps with headaches, too, which I appreciate! I definitely want to visit a hot springs or onsen at some point if I go to Japan! And I’m so glad we can all connect to that moment of nostalgia - L’Oreal definitely mastered marketing with that fish-shaped shampoo bottle we all used! And THREADING - yes - I’ve seen people do that but I cannot IMAGINE someone doing that to LEG HAIR - it sounds…intense. But I guess if the alternative is a possible staph infection? I believe Maomao only thinking of Verdigris House as her possible connections for Xiaolan's search for a job could be because of two reasons: 1) even though Xiaolan has been learning to read and write she wouldn't be considered educated enough for some roles, and others she'd be considered unsuitable simply due to the her social status (or rather lack of status), and 2) because Maomao herself is continually thinking of herself as having a low status, it may not occur to her that she actually does have higher connections she could lean on for help (not just in terms of the two High Consorts who favour her, but also Lakan). Always here for a crack ship. Maomao and Shisui could certainly be an interesting one! Xiaolan is truly precious. She deserves all the good things! But I adore her being uncaring if someone is a eunuch, all that matters is that they're good looking 😂 I love with the three sisters that the eldest, Haku-u, didn't twig she called Consort Gyokuyou just "Gyokuyou" without any kind of title, then the middle sister Koku-u had a slight reaction and with a single "nee-sama/sister" somewhat reprimanded her sister for doing such a thing. Meanwhile the youngest, Seki-u, had the most visible reaction that drew more attention to Haku-u's slip-up. Also I love, once you learn just how shy Seki-u is (especially about her body) the scene with her sisters encouraging the idea of her going to the baths with Maomao takes on a far more realistic sibling vibe 😂 Maomao's "descriptive" way on teaching Seki-u how to massage the concubines never fails to make me laugh. Likening massaging oil on someone to smearing oil on chicken is not a metaphor I thought I'd ever come across. I have some feelings regarding one part of the translation this episode. The English subs refer to Lishu being an infant when she entered the Imperial Palace the first time; the Japanese term used is 幼い頃 (osanaikoro), which would translate to something like "very early in one's life" or "from a young age". Honestly I'm unsure about the use of the term "infant" for the English translation as that is typically used for babies and toddlers between six months and two years old (at least in British English), but the image of Consort Lishu suggests she was at least older than that. Either way the idea of it definitely grosses me out; poor child to be sent to such a place 🥺 I don't know if anyone else has mentioned it, but the reason you might recognise the band for the Ending, Omoinotake, is because they also did the Ending for Saezuru/Twittering Birds 🥰 Apothecary Diaries is definitely good at introducing unexpected topics to discuss such as physical traits that people desire (the most polite way I can think of saying what you said about not every man being into big boobs 😆). But I love how Apothecary Diaries does show/explain people being attracted to different physicalities, alongside just the overall character design of various body types. Totally with you on liking my hot water. My family say I like my showers and baths a little too hot as a typically come out the colour of a lobster afterwards. But the hot water is so good for easing pains and fatigue. Definitely could not do without a hot shower. I do miss having a bath in my house, but I make do with any trips I make I book hotel rooms that have baths 😁 We had the L'Oreal kids' shampoo here in the UK too! The moment you said "no more tears" I could instantly envision the bottle of shampoo 🤣 Threading is the least painful way I've tried of shaping my eyebrows, but I can't imagine having someone thread other hair on my body like Maomao does this episode. That would be an intensive process.

Pseudo Yuri episode indeed! I'm glad that I'm not the only one that remembers L'Oreal kids shampoo! And the Mr. Bubble shampoo!! I do remember that one, too! Hahaha!! I want better skin, but not sure if the cold showers are the bargaining chip for me! But yeah, respect for those that prefer it! Thank you for the comment and kind words! I agree, the "calm before the storm" vibes are REAL here! At least maybe it's just a calm after Episode 12, hahaha!!

And yes, MaoMao just rolls around and puts the fear into all these ladies in waiting! I would live to see it! Thank you for the comment!

You've had the Shisui theory since the very beginning of this season I think, and I'm dying to see what happens with it - anime only, no spoilers. The L'Oreal kids shampoo, yes! I'll raise you a pink, Mr. Bubble shampoo in the bubble shaped container! That was always a fun time, of seeing just how much of it I could get away with pouring into a single bath without being yelled at! Totally agree about the cold showers - I have heard that they are really great for your skin, and also for building character/overcoming your fears, but I'll pass! Respect for anyone who handles them no trouble! Was another enjoyable episode, but I'm worried we're overdue for something crazy!

I adore all the interactions in this episode. I need MaoMao to go into Lishu pavilion and put the fear. Of the Apothecary into those girl like she did in the Crystal pavilion.
