lmao gaara was literally still hated. his dad still tried to kill him and so did his uncle. the only person he found out that loved him was him mom who’s been dead and couldn’t properly show her care until this explanation.

2025-01-10 14:11:39 +0000 UTCIt cheapens everything, because the original backstory gave his character a real tragic feeling and made his rise to power and recognition all the more satisfying. Gaara's character felt unique, because he was the one Jinchuriki who we were led to believe was genuinely hated by literally everyone he knew and I liked that aspect about him and, in my opinion, this did not need to be changed. No one has to agree. Again, it's just an opinion.

2025-01-10 13:52:32 +0000 UTCYou need to understand Gaaras father as well. He was only doing what he thought was right and best for the village as a kazekage. As one hokage once said "the whole village is my family and i need to protect them" So ofc he was looking at a grand scheme of things. He didn't just consider Gaara as his son but whole village as a family that he needs to protect. So if you ask me. full village of people over one Gaara is a fair trade. Yes he was goin the wrong way about all that but all he ever wanted was what's best for the village just as a true Kage is supposed to be at the end of the day.

2025-01-10 11:58:07 +0000 UTCHim find out the truth now doesn't negate the fact that he still overcame that emptiness and betrayal. he lived with his whole life thinking his mother hated him as well. And him finding out that she actually loved him has no impact on his past self. So idk how you came to think that this cheapens everything.

2025-01-10 11:52:23 +0000 UTCThis is probably an EXTREMELY hot take, but back then and even to this day, I still have mixed feelings about this resolution to Gaara's character. Personally, I think both his father and Yashamaru legitimately despising him shouldn't have been retconned. The original backstory was fine as it is, because it demonstrated that Gaara could overcome the emptiness he felt from being betrayed from those who should've loved him. Suddenly revealing that he was always cared for kinda cheapens everything he went through to become who he is today. I'm sure there's disagreements about this lol.

2025-01-10 06:39:50 +0000 UTCThis is one of my favorite episodes because of this meaning! Maaannn UGH! I’m okay! 🥹🥲😭😭 it’s shitty but we have to remember also they (Gaara’s parents and elders) came from an *ahem* “era of warring states” just finishing war themselves. Super shitty but they were moving politically and militaristic to protect their home. We saw it last episode too with Ay and Bee after the 3rd Raikage died. Minato said the same thing when he made Naruto a Jinchuriki. I love how essentially it’s the same concept and plot, just carried out in different ways through different characters!! Can someone confirm if Gaara’s dad’s voice actor is the same as Itachi’s? It sounds too familiar to another character just not 100% if it’s Itachi or another

2025-01-10 06:26:42 +0000 UTCTo echo what Baris said and on a personal note, my father passed away almost 2 years ago. He wasn't exactly the easiest person to be around, but he did love me. During his final days, he showed me a side of him I thought I'd never see, vulnerability. And for a brief time, it felt like him and I finally got on the same page. My message to others with complicated relationships: if there is a possibility to find peace, utilize it. I didn't get to say any parting words unfortunately. So use this time you have to mend any fences that may be broken.

2025-01-10 06:16:48 +0000 UTCA prime example of how the reanimation jutsu can be beneficial. It is first and foremost, a second chance for the dead. Gaara's father was not able to reconcile with his son before Orochi offed him, but he can now.

2025-01-10 06:09:13 +0000 UTCI don’t know why I never noticed until know but just by listening this time, I believe Gaara’s father and Itachi have the same voice actor! I can’t unhear it 😂

2025-01-10 06:06:36 +0000 UTCThe cherry on top of the ice cream to end the weekend would be a double upload of 298/299! I typically don't request this as I know y'all have other commitments to make, but these upcoming eps are the infamous Itachi/Nagato showdown. A special occasion indeed. We appreciate y'all either way!
